Abstract
ThispaperanalysesAmir,theprotagonistofTheKiteRunner,whoisanaveragepersongrowinginstruggle.Throughoutthewholelife,hisheartstruggleshardandisfullofcontradictions,longingforredemption.Later,heremediestheregretstothefullplaybygreatcourageandfirmbeliefandfindsthewaytobecomegoodpersonagain.heexperiencesthewholeprocessfromdeepsleeptorecoveryofhumanity.Intheend,hesucceedsinforgivinghimself.MythesisanalysesthewaystorecoveryofhumanityTheKiteRunnerwithfourimportantparts:
thevacantlovefromparents,betrayalandredemptionforthebrotherlyfriend,thewaytoredeemtheguilt,andwatchingtheinnerheart.

摘要
这篇论文对作品《追风筝的人》中主人公阿米尔,一个在挣扎中成长的成年人,进行分析。
纵观他的一生,内心做出了艰难的挣扎,渴望得到救赎。
后来,为了赎罪,他以极大地勇气和坚定的信念最大能力地弥补了遗憾,找到了再次成为好人的路,经历了人性从沉睡到复苏的全过程。
我的论文主要从四个部分对作品《追风筝的人》中人性的复苏进行分析:
来自父母残缺的爱,对朋友的背叛和愧疚,拯救罪恶的途径,内心的守候。

.Introduction
TheKiteRunneristhefirstnovelbyAfghan-AmericanauthorKhaledHosseini.Publishedin2003,itisthefirstnovelpublishedinEnglishbyanauthorfromAfghanistan.Itcontainsalmostallimportantthemes----love,friendship,loyalty,fear,guiltandredemption.Duetothisnovel,hereceivesthefavorablecommentsandthewidespreadattentionaswell.Amirtheheroofthenovel,whoishauntedbytheguiltofbetrayinghischildhoodfriendHassan,thesonofhisfather'sservant,Hazaralongingforacceptance,redemptionandrecoveryofhumanity,whichattracttheeyeofthewholeworld.Theherostrugglesinhisinnerheart.Thisisapaperaboutfriendship,loyalty,redeem,andatlast–therecoveryofhumanity.Throughanalyzingtheredemptionjourneyandgrowingexperiencesoftheprotagonist,thisthesismainlydealswithhowtheprotagonistunderstandshispastmistakesinhisthoughtsandactionsandwithsomeinternalandexternalimpetusandhowhegraduallyovercomeshisflawsandgrowsmaturethroughtheredemption.Idividetherecoveryofhumanityintofourimportantparts:
thevacantlovefromparents,betrayalandredemptionforthebrotherlyfriend,thewaytoredeemtheguilt,andwatchingtheinnerheart.
Ⅱ.Thesymbolicmeaningof“thekite”
1.Definitionofsymbolism
Ingenerally,symbolismisoneofthewritingskills.Itsgoalistoconveyelusiveillusionanditscontentismysticism.What’sthewriterwantstoexpressisnottherealisticobjectiveworld,buttheindividualsubjectiveinwardworld.TheoriginalmeaningofthesymbolisminGreekis“brokeoneboardintotwopartsandtakeonepartofeachother,inordertoindicatetheauthenticatingobjectofconnecting.Andthenithasevolvedtobethedelegateofthehabitoftakingaformasconcept.Symbolisalwaysinitsway.Itisawayofassociating,forexample,connectsthethingssawinsightwiththethingsfeltbeforeandthenformsafreshandpeculiarartisticconception.
Symbolisminliteraturewasappearedinmid19thcenturyinFrance.Symbolsarethingsthathaveamuchdeepermeaningthanwhatitappearstobe.Symbolismistheuseofanitemthatcausesthereadertothinkaboutwhatitstandsfor.Themeaningitholdsdependsontheindividual.itcouldmeandifferentthingstodifferentpeople.Thepurposeofsymbolistsistoexpressthehighlycomplexfeelingsthatgrewoutduringthecontactwiththeworld.
Therearetwotypesofsymbols.Ageneralsymbolisuniversalinitsmeaning.Forinstance,a“rose”oftenisnotonlyaflower,butalsoageneralsymbolforlove.Aspecificsymbolacquiresaspecificmeaningonhowitrelatestothecontent.Sometitlesofnovelsarealwaysspecificsymbols.
Symbolismhastwocharacteristics.Oneissuggestion,itmeansthewordhasadeepmeaninganditstandsforsomethingorakindofpeople.Theotherisambiguity.Ambiguitymeansthatthemeaningofthewordisuncertainandithasdifferentmeaningifyoulookthemindifferentlevel.
2.Thesymbolicmeaningof“thekite”
InTheKiteRunner,thekitesymbolizestherecoveryofhumanity.inthenovel,manydeedsneedforgiveness;manyindividualsseekredemption,andintheend,theyallfindtheonethingthattheirnewworldcannotgranthim:
redemption,asthemostimportantcharacter,Amirinthenovelbetrayssomeone,butintheend,hegotthechanceofredemption.Overall,thisisastoryofbetrayal,guilt,andredemption.Thepriceofbetrayalandthepossibilityofredemptionanditisalsoaboutthepoweroffathersoversons---theirlove,theirsacrifices,theirlies.Theflyingkitesymbolizesnotonlyidealandhumanityreturn,butalsoarealgrowthoftheprotagonist.Itwassomehowlikeofamemoir,amemoirabouthowamanwasesteemed,neglected,torturedandfinallyexpiatehisguiltbeforehewascalledaman.Time,youth,mortallife,whenitallelapses,whatstillwillremainmightbethekitewhichthetwomaincharactersoncewassomadabout.Thekiteflewovertrust,faith,betrayalandinnocencewilllastforever,tellingthestoryofthewriterhadexperienced,tellingusthatnomatterhowdarkthesocietyis,westillhaveadreamtochase.
Thekiteoncethemaincharacterschasedisnowforustochase,butitisnotakiteanymore,butalsothedeepthoughtofhumanity.Amongthose,thedeepestsymbolicmeaningof“thekite”istherecoveryofhumanity.

1.Thevacantlovefromparents.
Amir,hisclosefriendisHassan.,hisfather’syoungservant.Amir’sfather,awealthymerchant,lovesbothboys,whichmadeAmirjealousabouteverysinglecarefromhisfather.butactuallytheyaregoodfriendsforanyyearsorfromtheyareborn.Amirhadaloveforliterature,atraitsimilartohismother,whodiedwhilegivingbirthtohim.Amir’sfirstloveisPapa,butHassan’sisAmir.SuggestingthatAmirlooksuptoPapaandHassanlooksuptoAmir.OneofthemostcherishedtimesspenttogetherwaswhenAmirreadstoriestoHassan,underapomegranatetree.However,thistroubleshisfatherwhotriestomakeAmirmorelikehimself,activeandcourageous.BabaputsAmironasoccerteamandtriestoteachhimtodefendhimself,butfailswitheveryattempt.ThefirstwordthatAmircansayisthenameofHasson’s.HassanislikeAmir'sfather,braveandintelligent.HecandoeverythingbetterthanAmirexceptstudying.ButAmiristotallythedifferent.SoAmirthinksthatHassanrobshimofhisfather'sloveandcareness.Buthisfatheristhegreatestpersoninhiseye.

Love,isnotmeantodie,ortooccupysomething.Loveisakindofthingthatisperfect.Loveislikeakite,youhavetherighttoletitflyfreely;youalsoknowwhentopullitback.
2.BetrayalandredemptionforHassan
Whenpeoplebetraysomeone,theywouldformguiltinsidetheirdeepheart.Whenpeoplebetraysomeone,theywouldformguiltdeepinsidetheirheart.Sometimesthesepeoplewillregretwhattheyhavedone,andthesenseofguiltusuallyaffectshowpeoplereact.Inthekiterunner,betrayalandredemptionarethemostessentialthemesthatinvolvethecharactersondifferentlevelsthroughoutthenovel.Betraywhichcanbeconsideredasaformofsinwhichisenduringandendsupbeingcyclicalinthekiterunner.AmirbetrayedHasson,hisbestfiend.HewatchedHassanberapedbyAssef,buthejuststoodthereandwatchedwithoutgivinganyhelptohisbestfriend.Heransbackfromthewayhehadcome.Ittakesaperiodoftimetomakefault,howeveritcostsusthewholelifetosaveredemption.Admittedly,everyonehashiskiteandeveryoneisakiterunneratthesametime.Wemustandhavetobebravetotaketheresponsibilitiesthatbelongtousandadmittheerrorswemade.Weshouldnotbetrayalourheart.Oneshouldneverbetooselfish.JustlikeHassan,wecanlearntobeloyaltyandweoughttocherishfriendship.
