(1)RomanticismisaliterarytrendfightingagainsttheideaofEnlightenment.ItprevailedinEnglandduringtheperiodof1798—1832.ItbeginswiththepublicationofLyricalBalladsbyWilliamWordsworthandSamuelTaylorColeridgeandendswithSirWalterScott’sdeath.

FirstStanza–Itshowsaharmoniouspicture.Theimageof“cloud”givesustheimpressionofthepoet’sprideandloftiness.Butonseeingnumerousdaffodils,thepoetdescendsfromabovetobelow.
SecondStanza–Inthisstanza,thepoetdrawsananalogybetweenstarsanddaffodilstoemphasizethegreatnumber.“Star”inthisstanzaechoeswith“cloud”inthepreviousstanza.
ThirdStanza–Thepoetdrawsananalogybetweenwavesofwaterandwavesofdaffodils.Thedescriptionofthesceneryendsinthesecondline.Followingthat,thepoetshiftshisemphasisfromscenerytoemotion.
FourthStanza–Thegleeofdaffodilsturnsintohappinessofthepoet.Asaresult,thebeautyofnaturebecomesthebeautyofmind.Thelasttwolinesexplainwhydaffodilshadbroughtgreatwealthtome,becausetheyhadbroughtfreshinspiration,greatercreativityandnewcapacityforimagination.Newlifehasbeenbroughttohimbythememory.

ThisisaconceptcreatedbyGeorgeGordonByron.Itreferstoaproud,mysteriousrebelfigureofnobleorigin.Withimmensesuperiorityinhispassionsandpowers,thisfigurewouldcarryonhisshoulderstheburdenofrightingallthewrongsinacorruptedsociety,andwouldrisesingle-handedlyagainstanykindoftyrannicalruleseitheringovernment,inreligion,orinmoralprincipleswithunconquerablewillsandinexhaustibleenergies.
