2.1.Theimportanceofeducation
Inthismodernandcompetitivesociety,manycountriesarebusyinspaceexplorationtosearchformoreresourcesandwanttocolonizeinthespace.DuringtheU.Spresidentcampaign,BarackObamaproposeda$18billioneducationplan,whichwassupposedtobepaidforbydelayingoneoftheNASA’sspaceexplorationprograms---theconstellationprogramforfiveyears.ThosewhokeepaneyeonObamaandhisproposalthinkheisacrazymananddebatewhethereducationprogramismoreimportantthanspaceexplorationornot.Undoubtedly,spaceexplorationisbeneficialforhuman’sfuture.However,educationisthebasicofthedevelopmentofacountry.Therefore,educationisthebasicofthedevelopmentofacountry.Therefore,ascountries,theyshouldrealizetheimportanceofeducationandgiveeducationtopprioritytotakethecountryforwardinanincreasinglycompetitiveworld.

Inconclusion,educationplaysanimportantroleinonecountryinthiscompetitiveworld.Itcannotonlyhelptotrainadequateprofessionalsforthespaceexploration,butalsoadvancethedevelopmentofthecountryinthefuture.

Throughoutthemillennia,studentsofallagesinChinahavehadtoendurethemiseriesoflearningbyrote.Teachershavestifledcreativityinthepursuitoftheaccumulationoffacts,andparentshaveforcedchildrentospendmind-numbinghourscrammingforexams.
WhathaspromptedthereformsisabelatedrecognitionthatChina'seducationsystemisfailingtoproduceenoughinnovativethinkers.Inaddition,studentsaredeeplyunhappy.AsurveyconductedbytheEducationMinistryfiveyearsagofoundmorethan80%ofstudentsdislikedschool.Dropoutrateshavebeenrisinginruralareas—partlyforeconomicreasonsbutalsobecauseofthestultifyingatmosphereoftheirclassrooms.Exampressuresfrequentlyleadtosuicides.Accordingtoasurveylastyearamongseniorsecondary-schoolstudentsanduniversityfreshmeninonearea,morethan50%hadconsideredkillingthemselves.
SeveralothercountriesinEastAsia,includingJapan,SouthKoreaandTaiwan,aregrapplingwithsimilarproblems.ButtheimplicationsofChina'sreformeffortsareparticularlyprofound.China'straditionaleducationmethodsareideallysuitedtoapoliticalculturethatrequirescitizenstosubmitblindlytoauthority.Byencouragingstudentstoquestiontheirteachersandregardthemasequals(evenofficialliteraturenowtalksoffosteringa“democratic”atmosphereinclassrooms),Chinacouldbeusheringinanewkindofrelationshipbetweentherulersandtheruled.
