CuttingthechannelsthroughthehardrockofMountYuleiwasaremarkableaccomplishmentasitwasdonelongbeforetheinventionofgunpowderandexplosives.LiBingfoundanothersolution.Heusedacombinationoffireandwatertoheatandcooltherocksuntiltheycrackedandcouldberemoved.Aftereightyearsofwork,the20-metre-widecanalshadbeencarvedthroughthemountain.
