ThepresentdocumentdiscussessystemscenariosforE-UTRAoperationprimarilywithrespecttotheradiotransmissionandreceptionincludingtheRRMaspects.TodeveloptheE-UTRAstandard,alltherelevantscenariosneedtobeconsideredforthevariousaspectsofoperationandthemostcriticalcasesidentified.Theprocessmaythenbeiteratedtoarriveatfinalparametersthatmeetbothserviceandimplementationrequirements.
TheE-UTRAsystemisintendedtobeoperatedinthesamefrequencybandsspecifiedforUTRA.Inordertolimitthenumberoffrequencybandstobesimulatedinthevarioussimulationscenariosamappingoffrequencybandstotwosimulationfrequencies(900MHzand2000MHz)isapplied.WhenusingthemacrocellpropagationmodelofTR25.942[3],thefrequencycontributestothepathlossby21*log10(f).Themaximumpathlossdifferencebetweenthelowest/highestfrequenciesperE-UTRAfrequencybandandcorrespondingsimulationfrequencyisshownintables4.1and4.2.

Thevalidityofsimulationsperformedat2GHzforthe2.6GHzbands7and38wasalreadyanalyzedinTR25.810.Consideringtheexpectedhigherantennagaininthe2.6GHzbandthedifferenceinpathlossisintheorderof1dBwhatiscomparabletotheotherfrequencybands.
