Thisstandardspecifiesgeneralmethodofinspectionofdefectsinweldand/orheat-affectedzone,methodsfordeterminationofdefectposition,dimensionandevaluation,aswellasratingmethodofdetectionresult.
Thisstandardisapplicabletoimpulsereflectionmethodmanualultrasonicinspectionofferritesteelwhosebasemetalthicknessisnotlessthan8mmincompletepenetrationandfusioninbuttweld
Thisstandardisnotapplicabletocaststeeland/orausteniticstainlesssteelweldedjoint,buttweldofsteeltubewiththeexternaldiametersmallerthan159mm;filletweldoftubebasewithinternaldiameterlessthanorequalto200mm,and/orlongitudinalweldwithexternaldiameterofthetubesmallerthan250mmandinternalandexternaldiameterratiosmallerthan80%.

Basically,itparallelswiththedefectoftheweldedjointtrend.

Angleofrefractionwhentherefractionacousticbeamaxiallineandtheinnerwallaretangentialduringtheinspectionofcylindricalworkpieces.

Duringthedefectdetectionofobliqueangle,puttheprobeheadonthesurfacesofweldedjointand/orheat-affectedzonetomaketheacousticbeampointtoweldedjointdirectionandscanbymovingalongtheweldedjointdirection.

3.8Obliqueparallelscan
Duringthedefectdetectionofobliqueangle,probeheadandaxisofaweldshallbemadeintoanangleofcertaindegree,andscanbymovinginthedirectionparallelingtheweldedjointdirection.
3.9Defectdetectionsection
Duringthetandemscanfordefectdetection,asthesectionofdefectdetectionobject,generallyfusionfaceistakenasthedefectdetectionsection.SeeFigure2.
3.10ReferenceLineofTandem
Duringthetandemscan,asthereferencelinemovingfromthetwoprobeheads,oneofwhichisdrawnandtheotherislaunched,generally,itissetinaposition0.5spanfromthedefectdetectionsection.SeeFigure2.
3.11Referenceline
Thepositionfordefectdetectionsectionhasbeencoveredafterwelding.Thereforebeforethewelding,amarkinglineshallbedrawnoutatcertaindistanceawayfromtheweldedjointgroove.Thislineisreferenceline,whichwillbetakenasthereferenceforthedeterminationoftandemreferenceline.SeeFigure3.

4.TestPersonnel
4.1Testpersonnelforweldedjointdefectdetectionmustgraspthebasicultrasonicdefectdetectingtechnology,beexperiencedinweldedjointultrasonicdefectdetectingandgraspbasicknowledgeofmaterialandwelding.
4.2Weldedjointultrasonicinspectionpersonnelshallbetrainedandcheckedcriticallyaccordingtorelatedregulationsortechnicalconditions.Eachofthemshallholdqualificationcertificateissuedbycorrespondinginspectionorganizationsandtakeoncorrespondingtasksofinspection.
Note:
Generalweldinginspectiondisciplineinspectionitemisdividedintoboardbuttweld;pipecastingbuttweld;tubebasefilletweld;nodeweldedjoint.
4.3VisionofUltrasonicInspectionPersonnelshallbeexaminedannually.Thecorrectedvisionshallbenolowerthan1.0.
5.Defectoscope,probeheadand/orsystemperformance
5.1Defectoscope
UseTypeAdisplayimpulsereflectiondefectoscope.Itsworkingfrequencyscopeshallbewithin1-5MHz.Defectoscopeshallbeequippedwithattenuatororgaincontroller.Theaccuracyshallbeanyneighboring12dB.Errorshallbewithin±1dB.Thegapbetweeneachtwostepsshallbenogreaterthan2dB.Theoverallregulationcapacityshallbegreaterthan60dB.Horizontallinearityerrorshallbenogreaterthan1%.Verticallinearityerrorshallbenogreaterthan5%.
5.2Probehead
5.2.1ProbeheadshallbelabeledincompliancewithregulationsofZBY344standard
5.2.2Effectiveareaofcrystalwafershallbenogreaterthan500mm2,andanysidelengthshallbenogreaterthan25mm.
5.2.3Horizontaldeviationangleoftheacousticbeamaxiallineshallbenogreaterthan2°.
5.2.4Deviationofthemainacousticbeamofprobeheadinverticaldirectionshallhavenoevidentsplit-blip.TestingmethodseeZBY2310
5.2.5NominalrefractionangleofanglebeamprobeQare450,600,700orkvalueare1.0,1.5,2.0,and2.5.Deviationofthemeasuredvalueandnominalvalueoftherefractionangleshallbenogreaterthan20(kvaluedeviationshallbenogreaterthan±0.1).Deviationfortheleadingedgespaceshallbenogreaterthan1mm.Ifconstrainedbygeometricshapeofworkpiecesorcurvatureoffaceofdefectdetection,otherprobeheadsofsmallanglesmayalsobeadopted.
5.2.6Whenitisprovedthatbothaccuracyandreliabilityofthedetectionresultcanbeimproved,orproblemscanbesolvedandtheaccuracyofresultcanbeensured,itisrecommendedtoadoptspecialtypeoffocusingprobeheads.
5.3Systemperformance
5.3.1Allowanceofsensitivityratio
Effectivesensitivityofthesystemmustbegreaterthantheevaluatedsensitivitybyover10dB
5.3.2Distantfielddiscrimination
a.Straightbeamprobe:
X≥30dB;
b.anglebeamprobe:
Z≥6dB.
5.4Defectoscope,probeheadand/orsystemperformanceandperiodicinspection
5.4.1Otherthanallowanceofsensitivityratio,defectoscope,probeheadand/orsystemperformanceshallallbetestedincompliancetotheregulationsofZBJ04001.
5.4.2Horizontallinearityandverticallinearityofdefectoscopeshallbecheckedatitsfirstserviceaswellaseverythreemonths.
5.4.3Anglebeamprobeand/orsystemperformancemustbeinspectedonceatthetimespecifiedinTable1.
