Thecommitteestudied2,000submitted(提交的)designsaswellas3,900thathadbeengatheredasaresultofthe1946committee'sstudy.Thosedesignswithachanceofbeingacceptedweregiventothefullcommitteeforfurtherstudy.
ThesuggestionofaredandwhitesinglemapleleafdesignfortheCanadianflagcamefromGeorgeStanley,aprofessorattheRoyalMilitaryCollege.Afteraheateddiscussion,theyfinallydecidedonhissuggestion.
