Chapter1Rhinology

Objectives:

1.Clinicalanatomyofnoseandparanasalsinus:

Masteringtheimportantanatomicalstructuresofthenose,therelationshipbetweennasalcavityandparanasalsinusanditsclinicalsignificance.Knowingtherelationshipofnasalcavityandparanasalsinuswithorbitandskullcavityanditsclinicalsignificance.Recognizingphysiologicalfunctionsofthenose.

2.Examinationofnoseandparanasalsinus:

Masteringthecorrectuseoffrontalmirrorandnasalspeculum.Knowingtheclinicalapplicationofnasoendoscope.Knowingthetestsofolfactionandrespiration.Knowingthenormalappearanceofexternalnoseandnasalcavity.Knowingtheimagingexaminationsofnasalcavityandparanasalsinus.

3.Emergencyofrhinology:

Masteringthecommoncausesandthemanagementofepistaxis.Knowingthediagnosis,treatmentandpreventionoffractureofnasalbones,nasalvestibulitis,nasalfuruncleandforeignbodiesinnasalcavity.Knowingtheclinicalmanifestationsandthetreatmentalgorithmofcerebrospinalrhinorrhea.

4.Inflammationofnasalcavity:

Masteringthediagnosisandthetreatmentofacuterhinitis,chronicrhinitis,atrophicrhinitisandallergicrhinitis.Masteringthedifferencebetweensimpleandhypertrophicrhinitis.Recognizingtheinfluenceofdustandchemicalgasonnose.

5.Inflammationofparanasalsinus:

Recognizingthediagnosisandthetreatmentalgorithmofacutesuppurativesinusitis.Masteringthediagnosisofchronicsuppurativesinusitisandthedifferencebetweendifferenttypesofchronicrhinitis.Knowingthetherapeuticmethodsofchronicsinusitis（punctureandirrigationofmaxillarysinus,drugdisplacementmethodandsurgery,etc.）

6.Recognizingtheetiology,diagnosisandmanagementofnasalpolyps.

7.Recognizingthediagnosisandtreatmentalgorithmofthedeviationofnasalseptum.

8.Nasalcyst:

Knowingtheclinicalmanifestationsandthemanagementofnasalsinuscyst.

9.Tumorsofnose:

Masteringtheclinicalmanifestationsofbenigntumors（papilloma,hemangiomaandosteoma）anditsdifferencefrommalignanttumors.Masteringthediagnosisandmanagementalgorithmofmalignanttumorsofnasalcavityandparanasalsinus.

3.Injuriesofnose

Thediagnosisandmanagementalgorithmofthefractureofnasalboneandparanasalsinus.

4.Inflammationofexternalnose

Theclinicalmanifestations,complicationsandmanagementalgorithmoffuruncleofthenose.

5.Inflammationofnasalcavity

Theetiology,clinicalmanifestations,complicationsandtreatmentofacuterhinitis.Theetiology,pathology,clinicalmanifestations（differentiationbetweensimpleandhypertrophicrhinitis）andtreatmentofchronicrhinitis.Thepathologyandclinicalmanifestationsofatrophicrhinitis.

6.Allergicdisorderofthenose

Thepathogenesis,clinicalmanifestations,diagnosisandtreatmentofallergicrhinitis.Theclinicalmanifestations,differentialdiagnosisandtreatmentofnasalpolyps.

7.Disorderofnasalseptum

Theclinicalmanifestationsandtreatmentofdeviationofthenasalseptum.

8.Epistaxis

Theetiologyandtreatmentofepistaxis.

Chapter2Pharyngology

Objectives:

1.Anatomyofthepharynx:

Masteringtheimportantanatomicalstructuresofthenasopharynx,oropharynxandlaryngopharynx.Recognizingthestructuralfeaturesofthepharyngeallymphoidringandtheanatomyofparapharyngealspace.Recognizingthephysiologicalfunctionsofthepharynx.

2.Examinationofthepharynx:

Masteringthenormalappearanceofnasopharynx,oropharynxandlaryngopharynx.Masteringtheexaminationmethodsoforopharynx.Knowingtheexaminationmethodsofnasopharynxandlaryngopharynx.

3.Inflammationofpharynx:

Recognizingthediagnosisandtreatmentofacuteandchronicpharyngitis.Recognizingtheclinicalmanifestationsandmanagementofadenoidalhypertrophy.Masteringtheclinicalmanifestations,managementofacuteandchronictonsillitisandthedifferencebetweenpharyngitisanddiphtheria.Masteringthesurgicalindicationsandcontraindicationsoftonsillectomy.

4.Pharyngealabscess:

Recognizingthediagnosisandtreatmentofperitonsillarabscess.Knowingtheclinicalmanifestationsandmanagementalgorithmofretropharyngealandparapharyngealabscess.

5.Recognizingthediagnosisandtreatmentofforeignbodiesinthepharynx.

6.Tumorsofthepharynx:

Masteringtheclinicalmanifestations,diagnosisandtreatmentofnasopharyngealcarcinoma,whichisoneofthemostcommonmalignanttumorsinChina.Recognizingthediagnosisandtreatmentofnasopharyngealfibroangioma.Knowingthemainclinicalmanifestationsandtreatmentalgorithmoftumorofinfratemporalfossa.

7.Knowingtheclinicalmanifestationsofaidsoftheear,nose,pharynxandlarynx.

5.Adenoiditis

Theclinicalmanifestations,diagnosisandtreatmentofadenoidalhypertrophy.

6.Pharyngealabscess

Theetiology,pathology,clinicalmanifestations,diagnosis,differentialdiagnosisandtreatmentofperitonsillarabscess.Theetiology,pathology,clinicalmanifestations,diagnosisandtreatmentofretropharyngealabscess.Theetiology,clinicalmanifestations,diagnosisandtreatmentofparapharyngealabscess.

7.Tumorsofthepharynx

Theclinicalmanifestations,diagnosisandtreatmentofnasopharyngealfibroangioma.Theetiology,clinicalmanifestations,diagnosisandtreatmentofnasopharyngealcarcinoma.

Chapter3Laryngology

Objectives:

1.Clinicalanatomyandphysiologicalfunctionsofthelarynx:

Recognizingcartilageframeworkofthelarynx（theroleandclinicalsignificanceofcricoidcartilage）,laryngealmuscles,structureofthelaryngealcavity（supraglottic,glotticandinfraglotticportion）,nervesandlymphnodesofthelarynx.Recognizingtheanatomicalfeaturesandclinicalsignificanceofthelarynxinchildren.Recognizingthephysiologicalfunctionsofthelarynx.

2.Examinationofthelarynx:

Recognizingindirectlaryngoscopy.Knowingdirectlaryngoscopy,fibrolaryngoscopy,microlaryngoscopy,strobolaryngoscopy,investigationmethodsoflaryngealfunctionsandimagingstudiesofthelarynx.

3.Inflammationoflarynx:

Recognizingtheclinicalmanifestations,diagnosisandtreatmentofacutelaryngitis,chroniclaryngitis,acutelaryngitisinchildrenandacuteepiglottitis.Knowingthedifferenceofchroniclaryngitisfrompolypofvocalcord,vocalnodulesandhystericalaphoniaandthepreventionandtreatmentalgorithm.

4.Injuriesofthelarynx:

Recognizingtheclinicalmanifestationsandsalvagemeasuresofcontusion,cuttingandburninginjuriesofthelarynx.Knowingthediagnosisandtreatmentofstenosisofthelarynx.

5.Masteringtheetiology,clinicalmanifestations,differentialdiagnosisandmanagementoflaryngealobstruction.Recognizingtheindications,surgicalproceduresandcommoncomplicationsoftracheotomy.

6.Neuraldisordersofthelarynx:

Knowingtheclinicalmanifestations,diagnosisandtreatmentalgorithmoflaryngealparalysis.

7.Tumorsoflarynxandneck:

Recognizingtheclinicalmanifestations,diagnosisandtreatmentalgorithmoflaryngealpapilloma.Masteringtheclinicalmanifestations,differentialdiagnosisandmanagementoflaryngealcarcinoma.Knowingtheclinicalmanifestationsandtreatmentalgorithmofthyroglossalductcyst,ectopicthyroidglandandcervicallymphnodemetastases.
