Thediscrimination(歧视)againstHIV-positivewomenissimplyterrible.Theyarelikelytobemoreinactivethanmeninthehomeandworkplacebecausetoomanypeoplethinkthatwomenarethecauseofthedisease.Thisisnotatalltrue.Theygetitfromaman.Theydon’tjustsimplyhaveHIV.Ofcourse,there’sasocialdiscriminationagainstallpeoplewithHIV.TheyarescaredthatotherpeoplewillknowtheyareHIV-positiveandthattheywill,therefore,bediscriminatedagainst.Forexample,it’sverydifferentforpeoplewithHIVtotravel.Theyarenotallowedtoentermanycountries,includingtheUnitedStates,ChinaandRussian.
ThebiggestdifficultyanHIV-positivewomanmustfaceistheisolation(孤立).Oncethewomanknowsshe’sHIV-positive,shelivesinfearthatotherpeoplewillfindout.She’ssofrightenedshewillgointohiding,intoanisolatedplacebyherself.It’snotatalluncommontomeetawomanwhohasbeenHIV-positivefornearly10yearsandhasnevertoldanyone,exceptthedoctor.Andtheresultingstressisenoughtomakehersick.ButHIV-positivewomenwhogetsupport,whocandiscusstheirtroubleandthendosomethingaboutit—whetherthatmeanstakingbettercareofthemselvesorgoingtotheUnitedNationstostrugglefortheirrights—arelikelytolivelonger.Activewomendon’tdieoutofshameinacorner.ThishappenstotoomanyHIV-positivewomen.
