“Thekeyistohavealotofdifferentformsofpunishmentdependingontheageofthechild,”saidFrick,whoreportedhisfindingsintheJournalofAppliedChildPsychology.
Herecommendedtimeoutforyoungerchildrenandtakingawaytelevisionandelectronictoysforolderchildren.Givingextrachorescanalsogetthemessageacross.
Othermeasuresareatleastaseffectiveasphysicalpunishmentandhavelessharmfulpotentialconsequences.
