Inordertoseetheprospectofourcomputerrepairbusiness,Idothemarketresearches.Theyarefromthreeaspects,thesurveytopotentialcustomers,researchontheinternet,andthetheresearchforcompetitors.
(1)Thesurveytopotentialcustomers
IconductedthesurveyofstudentsatDongbeiUniversityofFinanceandEconomicsonMarch18-20,2012.Thesurveywasadministeredto37students,22maleand15female.Studentswereasked12questionsdesignedtoidentifythepotentialmarketforthecomputerrepairandmaintenanceservice.Whilethepotentialmarketwasnotsmall,studentswerewillingtoacceptthecomputerrepairandmaintenanceservicewhenwesupplytheprofessionalandconvenientservicewithalowprice.
Inresponsetothequestion:
"Iftherewouldbealong-range,well-roundedcomputerreparationandmaintenanceservice,willyouwanttotryit?
"70.3%answered"Yes",thissuggestthepotentialmarketforourcomputerserviceisverystrong.
Ontheotherhand,althoughwefoundthat36%studentshadtheircomputerproblemsmorethanonce,whichtolduswehadamarket,studentsstillhadsomeconcernabouttheprofessionofourservice,thesecurityoftheircomputer,thepriceandtheconveniencyofourservice.Tothequestion"Pleaselistthesepointsfromyourtopconcerntolittleconcern"90%studentsregarded"Qualityoftherepair"astheirmoreimportantconcern,74%studentschose"Conveniencytotherepairplace"astheirtopthreeconcern,45%studentsput"Thepriceofthereparation"astheirtopconcern.Itsuggestedthatifwewantedtoattractstudentsweneededtoconcernmoreaboutthreeaspects-profession,convenienceandprice.
Thesurveydididentifypossiblesolutionstothestudents'concerns.55%studentschose"Thehighprice"astopdissatisfactionwhentheyhadtheircomputerrepaired,24%studentschose"Badqualityofthereparation(forexample:
samebughappenedagain)"astopdissatisfactionwhentheyhadtheircomputerrepaired.20%studentschose"conveniencetotheservice"astopdissatisfactionwhentheyhadtheircomputerrepaired,andmorefemalestudentsconcernedabouttheconveniencethanthemalestudents.Ifwecanavoidthesesourcesofdissatisfaction,obviouslywecansucceed.
Thissuggestthatweneedprofessionalrepairerstoaccomplishtherepairingjob,keeptherepairservicetothepointandperfect,wealsoneedapersonwhotransportthestudents'"bringin"computerbacktohis/herhandintimetomakeitconvenientforstudentstorepairandlowpricepolicyisneededtoourbusinessaswell.DetailofthisplanwillbediscussedaspartofMarketingPlan.
Inconclusion,theresultsofmysurveyshowastrongpotentialofourmarketandifwewanttocarryonthisbusiness,weneedtoputmostourenergyontheprofessiontherepairservice,theconveniencetotherepairplaceandtheprice.(SeeAppendixforfullsurveyresults.)

Firstly,Suntaoranwhoisfamousforhisachievementonself-employmentinainterviewsaidthat"Withthedevelopmentofsocialeconomy,servicesinourlifehasgainedmoreandmoreimportantrole.Collegestudentsshoulddeveloptheirknowledgebusinessadvantage,chooseafewacknowledgedandprofessionalintelligenceservices,suchascomputerrepairservice,translation"(Suntaoran2012-03-15).Obviously,Suntaoranencouragedgraduatedstudentstobecomeself-employedbasedonhiswords,thatmeansanappropriateopportunityforourstudents.Whatismore,aswehavestudiedintheuniversity,welearnabouttheknowledgeoncomputerandwhichisalsomyinterest.Thisbusinessisactuallycarrymyknowledgeout.Sowewillbegoodatthisbusiness-computerrepair,asourroles.
And,Thenewsaboutthesalesofthenewcomputersalsoshowusapromisingmarket(LIAOSHEN2011-09-07).Itisthenewfromlastyear.ButfromthatIgetinformationaswell.Inthenews,Itisfoundthatinordertosellcomputerstotheirtopcustomers-students,thecomputersellersalwayholdsalespromotionatthebeginningofsummerandwintersemesters.Accordingtojournalist'sinterviewtothebuyersinthecomputermarket,themajorityofthestudentscomputerbuyerslackcomputerrepairknowledge,theyonlyknowhowtoplayevenwithoutbasiccommonsenseonrepair.Soinordertoextendtheperiodofuse,studentsusuallychoosethebrandorthesellerswhocanofferlongerinsuredrepairperiod.Buttosomeextent,studentsmisunderstandthemaintenancepromise.Sellerwillonlyrepairthecomputerwhenitbreakdownasacauseofqualityproblem.Addingthelongdistancefactorandthebadhabitoncomputeruse,studentsseldomspend3to4hoursonthewaytotheseller.Ratherthanit,studentsaremorelikelytofindcomputermaintenanceshopjustbesidestheirdormitory.Thisisourpotentialmarket,ofcoursebelongtoourbusiness'sstrength.
Atlast,Ifindsomeinformationaboutcomputermaintenanceonthediscussingboardofourschoolandotherschools.Theyarefullofadvertisement,withoutmuchvisits.Itshowsdiscussingboardisnotagoodplaceforourmarketing.
(3)Theresearchforcompetitors
Firstly,thenewsaboutthesalesofthenewcomputersgiveusabigopportunity(LIAOSHEN2011-09-07).Inthenews,inordertosellcomputerstotheirtopcustomers-students,sellersalwayprogresssalespromotionatthebeginningofsummerandwintersemester.Thesecomputersellersarethefirstcompetitor.Becauseoflongtimeoperatingthisbusiness,thesecomputersellershavemoreexperiencethanoursmallbusiness.Thatisourshortage.Fromatimeissue,addingthelongdistancefactorandthebadhabitoncomputeruse,rarestudentsspend3to4hoursonthewaytotheseller.Comparedwiththis,studentsaremorelikelytofindcomputerrepairshopjustbesidestheirdormitory.Itisouranotheradvantage.
Then,Ilookintothecompetitorbesidesourdormitory.Thereisonlyonecomputermaintenanceshopbesidescalled"Jianzaidigit".Thisshopprovideallkindsofcomputermaintenanceandupdateservice,theyalsosupplycleanoutandrecycleservices.Thisshopisrunbyoneperson-Itsowner.Thereisonlyasmallroomthere.Crowedwithalltheequipmentsandoldcomputers.Thatmeanslittleinventory.Theonlyproblemtothe"Jianzaidigit"ishighpricebecauseofhighrentpriceandhighlaborprice.Butthisshophasrunforyears,sothisshophaveoldcustomersandlargeamountsofexperience.
