Intheevenings,mymomandIwouldsitforhourssinginginthelittlekitchen.IsangthemelodyandMomharmonized.Herfavoritesongwas"MoonRiver"andwesangitoverandover.MomtoldmestoriesabouthowwhenIwasalittlegirl,IcouldsingbeforeIcouldtalk.
Astimepassed,Ihadmyownchildrenandwenttovisitthemeveryweekortwo.Thekidslovedthefarmandthetractorrideswithmydad.Me,well,Istillhatedthesilenceofthefarm.Whilemymomlovedtositatherkitchentableandlookoutathergardenandflowersandretellalltheoldstories,Imissedthehustleandbustle(喧闹)ofmylifeathome.ButIsattherelisteningquietlyasshereminisced.
Now,IsatbackinthesilenceandthesilencewasdeafeningsoIfinallyleanedovertoturnonanoldradio.Musicalwayscomfortedme.
Myheartskippedabeat."MoonRiver"wasplayingontheradio.Isattherestunned,withatear
runningdownmycheek,asIlistenedtoeveryfamiliarnote.

Startthedayintheclassroomwithaninstructivetalkbyourphotographer.Ourfirsttaskthisafternoontakesustotheoldestrunningfarmers’marketinthecountry,PikePlaceMarket.Workonportraits,streetscenes,andfoodphotographing.Thenphotographthestately19thcenturybrickbuildingsofPioneerSquare,Seattle’shistoriccenter.Endthedaywithanedit-and-criticmeeting.
Day3—Saturday:
OlympicSculpturePark&SpaceNeedle
HeadouttotheOlympicSculpturePark.ThengotothestreetsofthedowntownareatogetauniqueviewoftheSpaceNeedle,andphotographcitylifeagainstabackgroundofdiversearchitecturalstyles.Tonight,we’llpresentourbestimagestothegroup,enjoydinneratalocalrestaurantandendourjourney.
