EngineeringWorkplace/PlantExplorer
EngineeringWorkplace/PlantExploreristhetoolthatisprimarilyusedfor800xAsystemconfiguration.TheEngineeringWorkplaceistheworkplaceusedforallprojectworkdonebyapplicationengineers.
TheProjectwillexistintheAspectIntegratorPlatformbutthecontrolpartofitwilluseControlBuilderasanaspectsystemforitsconfiguration.ThereforewhenanewprojectiscreatedweworkpartlyinthePlatformandpartlyintheControlBuilder.

Beforeyoustart,makesurethatthe‘System’is‘UpandActive’
3.2.1WhatisaSystem?
AsystemisacollectionofprogramsandservicesthatareruntogethertosupporttheHSI.AttheveryleasttherewillbeanAspectserverandaConnectivityservermakingupthesystem.
3.2.2WhatisaWorkplace?
Thisistheworkingenvironmentforaparticulargroupofpeoplewhomightwishtoaccessthesystem.Inanewlyinstalledsystemthereare4defaultworkplacesprovided,intendedforvarioususers.

ThemaindifferencebetweentheEngineeringWorkplaceandthePlantExplorerWorkplaceisthatonlytheEngineeringWorkplaceallowsyoutouseadvancedtoolssuchasFunctionDesignerandBulkDataManager.
NOTE!
Thesystemextension“EngineeringBase”mustbeloadedtohavetheEngineeringWorkplaceavailable.
3.2.3
HowtoStarttheEngineeringWorkplace
YoucanaccesstheEngineeringWorkplacebyright-clickingon“MyePlant”onyourcomputerdesktopandthenselect‘EngineeringWorkplace:
YoucanalsousetheStartbuttontoselect“Workplace”:

TheWorkplacelogonscreenhastwoselectionpanes:

InatypicalplanttherewillbeonlyoneSystemavailable.Thiswillbethesystemthatwasbuiltfortheapplication.
3.2.4
BrowsetheAspectDirectory
PlantExplorerisusedtobrowseandnavigateintheAspectDirectory.ItisusedtocreateandmanageAspectObjects.
PlantExplorerisbasedontheconceptofWindowsExplorer.Whenviewingastructure,objectsareintheleft-handwindow(pane)andaspectsoftheselectedobjectareintheright-handwindow(pane).
3.2.5Structures
TheAspectObjectconceptallowsorganizationofobjectsandaspectsintodifferentstructures,dependingonwhichcontextistobeviewed.Structuresarethegraphicalrepresentationsoftherelationsthatexistbetweendifferentaspectobjects.
PlantExplorerorganizesthe800xAsystemintoStructuresthatcanbeaccessedfromthepull-downmenuintheupperleft-handwindow.
NOTE!
Thesameobjectcanbeseenindifferentstructures.
Thereare19structuresbydefault.Thereareatleast5structuresthatareeitherusedformodelingyourphysicalplantorareoftenusedinoperations.Theuseofthesestructureswillvaryfromsystemtosystemdependingupontheneedsoftheperson(s)thatareconfiguringandusingthesystem.
Themajorityoftimeweuseonlyafewofthesesstructures,whicharemarkedinblue:

ContextMenus
Byright-clickingonanobject,thecorrespondingaspectswillappear.Eachobjecthascertainaspectsavailable,whichcanbedifferentfromoneobjecttotheother.
Alsotheaspectshaveacontextmenutohandletheaspectsthemselves
3.3
StructuresusedforApplicationEngineering
Thesearethemainapplicationstructuresofthe800xAsystem.Thesestructuresareprimarystructures,becauseitisassumedthatmostApplicationEngineerswillperformmostoftheirworkwithinthesestructures.
3.3.1FunctionalStructure
TheFunctionalStructuredescribesthefunctionalityoftheplant.Itisusedtostructuretheplantintosystemsandsubsystemsaccordingtohowtheplantequipmentoperatestogether.
Bythisitcanalsobeusedtoorganizedisplays,alarmsectioningandotherfunctionsthatarerelatedtothestructureoftheplant.
3.3.2
ControlStructure
TheControlStructurecontainsthenetworksandnodesthatareusedtocontroltheprocessthatistheequipmentofthesystem.Itisalsousedtoorganizetheprocesscontrolenvironmentinthesystem.
Thisstructurecontainscontrolnetworks,controlprojects,applications,controllers,stations,differenttypesofsub-objects(likeI/Oboardsandprocessobjectsaswellassignalsassignedtodifferentobjectswithinthisstructure).
3.3.3
LocationStructure
TheLocationStructure(optional)issuppliedtohelptheuseridentifythegeographyorlocationoftheobjectsintheplant.Thisstructuremustbebuiltwiththeknowledgeofwhatbuildings,roomsandlocationsthatexistinthesite.
3.3.4
LibraryStructure
TheLibraryStructureisusedtocategorizeandstorereusableentities.
Itcontainsallobjecttypelibrariesanditsversions.TheobjecttypesoftheselibrariesarestoredinObjectTypeStructure.
ItcontainsthetemplatesforsuchobjecttypesastheAlarmandEventListconfiguration,HistoryLogs,andTrends.
3.3.5ObjectTypeStructure
AlmostallaspectobjectsareinstancesofanObjectType.Theintentistomakeitpossibletocreateandefficientlyre-usestandardizedsolutionstorecurringproblems.
Anexamplewouldbeacontrolvalve.RatherthancreateanewanduniqueAspectObjectforeveryvalveinyourplant,itwouldbemoreefficienttocreateafewvalvetypes.Whenyouneededaparticularsolution,youwoulduseaninstanceofoneofyourvalveObjectTypes.
Whenyouuseaninstanceofthatobjecttype,theaspectsthatarepre-definedforthatobjecttypeareautomaticallyinstantiatedandassociatedwiththenewinstance.
3.4
StructuresusedforAdministration
3.4.1UserStructure
TheUserStructureholdsthedefinedusersandusergroupsallowedtoworkinthesystem.YoudefineuserrolesintheConfigurationWizard.
AllusersmusthavearelatedWindowsuseraccount.Theuseraspectprimarilycontainsinformationaboutauserandwhattheuserisallowedtodowithinthesystem(hisuserrole).
3.4.2WorkplaceStructure
TheWorkplacestructureisusedtodefineandcreatethelayoutofthescreensforuserinterfacetothesystem.Thisincludesworkplacesforoperations,maintenance,managementetc.
Theworkplaceobjectstypesofaspectthatcanbeplacedherearenumerous,andtheycontrolthelayoutandfunctionofaworkplace,forexampletoolbarsandmenuitems.
3.4.3
ServiceStructure
TheServiceStructureholdstheservices,theirgroupsandproviders,andtherelationsbetweenthesedefinedinasystem.
Aserviceisaglobalfunctioninthenetwork,andtheobjectsandaspectsintheServiceStructurecontrolthedefinitionanddeploymentoftheservices.
3.4.4MaintenanceStructure
TheMaintenanceStructureisusedtodefineandworkonBackups,SystemConfigurationVersions,andSynchronizations.

Otherstructuresthatcontainimportantinformationormayrequireaone-timeconfigurationforthesysteminclude:

3.4.5.1HowtoNavigatebetweenStructures
Youcaneasilynavigatefromonestructuretoanother,ifthesameobjectisusedinseveralstructures.
Justclickonthestructureaspectanditwillleadyoutotheplacewheretheobjectislocatedintheotherstructure.

Agoodexampleisanobjecttype,whichisplacedintheObjectTypeStructureandintheLibraryStructure.
3.5
HandlingofObjectsandAspects
3.5.1HowtoAddObjects
AddingaNewObjecttoastructureisassimpleasaright-click.
SelecttheObjecttype,giveitauniquenameandselect“Create”.
Thenewobjectwillappearinthestructureatthelevelthatitwascreated.Inthisinstance,thenewobjectwasaddedattherootofthestructure.Anydefaultaspectsthatarepartoftheobjecttypewillautomaticallyappearintheaspectlist.
3.5.2
HowtoAddAspects
AddingaNewAspecttoanobjectisalsoassimpleasaright-click.
SelecttheAspecttype,giveitauniquenameandselect“Create”.
TheAlarmandEventListaspecthasbeenaddedtotheReactor_11object.
Themainviewofthisnewaspectisvisibleisvisibleinthepreviewpane.Theusermaytogglethepreviewpane(viewableornot)asdesired.
3.5.3
DefaultAspectforanObject
Eachobjectmayhaveone(andonlyone)aspectsetasthedefaultaspect.Bydoingso,thiswillbetheaspectthatisautomaticallyviewedinthepreviewpanewhileworkinginthePlantExplorer.
Inanoperatorworkplacecontextmenu,itisthedefaultaspectthatisatthetopoftheaspectlist.Itisalsotheaspectthatwillbeacquiredwhenthereisaleftmouseclickontheobject.
NOTE!
OftenthedefaultaspectistheFaceplateofanobjectlikeamotororvalve.
