为什么美国文化是独特的
Americancultureisuniquebecauseitisnurtured,formedanddevelopedundercertainconditions,whicharecharacteristicallyAmerican.Themajorfactorscontributingtothemakingofthisnewnationandtheformingofanewculturearethehardenvironment,ethnicdiversityandpluralreligion,whichisquitedifferentfromothernationsintheworld.Whatismore,theseelementsarestillinfluencingtheAmericanculture.
TheearlyimmigrantswhowereEnglishPuritanssettleddowninnortheastpartofAmerican.Theenvironmenttherewasveryroughbuttheybelievedthepoorlandcouldpurifytheirmindsotheychosetheplacealongthecoast.From1607to1892,frontierswerepushedfurtherwest.TheAmericanfrontierconsistedoftherelativelyunsettledregionsoftheUnitedStates,usuallyfoundinthewesternpartofthecountry.Thefrontiersmenlookedforalandofrichresourcesandalandofpromise,opportunityandfreedom.Actuallytheylookedforabetterlife.Soindividualism,self-reliance,andequalityofopportunityhaveperhapsbeenthevaluesmostcloselyassociatedwiththefrontierheritageofAmerican.
ThepopulationoftheUnitedStatesincludesalargevarietyofethnicgroupscomingfrommanyraces,nationalities,andreligions.PeoplerefertotheUnitedStatesas"meltingpot"andthedominantpeopleareBritish.AmericanismadeupofWASPMM,thatis,White,AngloSaxon,ProtestantsplusMiddleClassandMale.Inhistory,peoplefromdifferentcountriesintheworldrushedtoAmericanthreetimes.TheybroughttheirownculturetoAmericanandlaterondifferentculturesweremixedtogether.ThustheuniqueAmericancultureisformed,acommonculturallifewithcommonlysharedvalues.
ThefundamentalAmericanbeliefinindividualfreedomandtherightofindividualstopracticetheirownreligionisatthecenterofreligiousexperienceintheUnitedStates.Thegreatdiversityofethnicbackgroundshasproducedreligiouspluralism;almostallofthereligionsoftheworldarenowpracticedintheUnitedStates.ChristianityisthedominantreligioninAmericanandProtestantispredominate。
AnyindividualsareequalbeforeGodandtheybelievetheycancommunicatedirectlytoGodsotheycansharethesameidea.Undertheprotestant,manynewonesareformedanddifferentexplanationsproducedifferentsectofreligion.ChurchesareindependentandAmericanreligionisnolongerreligionseculars.Theinstitutionpermitsthepracticeofreligionandthepoliticalpowerisseparateformreligion.SotherearemorereligionsinAmericanthaninothercountries.
Nowadays,wecanseethecontinualinfluenceofthethreeelementsinthecurrentAmericansociety.Americanfamilyistypicallyparentsandtheirunmarriedchildren.Middle-agedandelderlypeoplegenerallydonotlivewiththeirmarriedchildren.ManyAmericansliveinmobilehomeswhosehomesarebuiltwithwheels.Theycanbemoved.ThepeopleinAmericanhaveaverystrongdesiretostartanewlifeinanewplace.Quiteanumberofpeoplechangeresidenceseveryyear.TheaverageAmericanmovesfourteentimesinhislifetime.ThecouragetotrysomethingnewhasbeenanAmericancharacteristic.Americandemocracymeansmajorityrule,butitalsomeansprotectionofminorityrights.TherearecertainfreedomwhichtheUnitedStatespromisestoallitscitizensandmembersofminoritygroupcannotbedeniedtheserightsbyavoteofthemajority.Americansalsoliketobeinvolvedinmanychallengeactivitiesandsportstoshowtheiradventurousspirits.AlloftheseareaffectedbytheheritageoftheAmericanhistory.
Fromthefactsabove,wecanseeAmericancultureisuniquewhichwascultivated,formedanddevelopedbythemainthreefactors,roughenvironment,ethnicdiversityandpluralreligionandstillisaffectedanddeterminedbythemnow.
Fromitshumblebeginningsandunlikelyorigins,thechickenwinghasbecomeoneofAmerica'sbest-lovedsnackfoods.
