Kerouacrocketedtofameattheageof35,withthepublicationofOntheRoadin1957.
Butafterbecomingasymbolandleaderofthealternativelifestylemovement,hestruggledwiththatfameandclaimedthatheonlywantedpeopletoreadhisbooks.
Kerouacdiedjust12yearsafterOntheRoadwaspublished.Hewassufferingfromliverproblem,followingyearsofheavydrinkinglargelybroughtonbyhislove-haterelationshipwithfame.

Partoftheproblem,arguetheorganizersofthesurvey,istheInternet.Theysayitisbecominghardertofindhigh-qualityinformationaboutworldeventsamongstallthefakenewsandtriviawhichswamptheweb.Forty-threepercentofthosequestionedsaidtheyreadaboutthenewsonFacebook.

Thesurveyresultswerenotallbad.Theyoungpeoplealsodemonstratedagoodunderstandingofclimatechangeandrenewableenergy.Andthemajorityofthemsaidthatinternationalissueswerebecomingmoreimportanttothem.
