In1873,StraussreceivedaletterfromaJewishtailornamedJacobDaviswhohadinventedaprocessofconnectingpocketswithcopperrivets（铆钉）．Thismadethepantslastalongtime．BecauseDavisdidnothavethemoneytopatenthisidea,heofferedtoshareitwithStraussifStrausswouldagreetopayforthepatent．4．
