Abstract:
Asweallknow,familyisthefirstschoolforeverybodyinalifetime,andparentsarethefirstteachersforthechildren.Childrenarethehopesofanation,andfamilyeducationisthemostimportantelementaryeducationforchildren.Therearemanykindsoffamilyeducationintheworldandeachofthemshowsdifferentfeaturesandiscloselyresponsivetoitsculture.AndAmericanfamilyeducationisthemostfamousoneamongthem[i].Therearelotsofdifferencesintheconceptsofeducation,aimofeducation,methodsofeducationandcontentsofeducationbetweenAmericanfamilyeducationandChinesefamilyeducation.Thisthesiswillcompletethecomparativestudyfromthedifferences,thereasonsandtheresultsoffamilyeducationbetweenAmericaandChina.IhopetofindasatisfiedfamilyeducationmethodthroughcomparingthedifferencesbetweenAmericanfamilyeducationandChinesefamilyeducation.Meanwhile;Ihopethisthesiscanprovidesomehelpfulsuggestionsforfamilyeducationinordertomakechildrengrowmorehealthilyandroundly.

Introduction:
I.Thedifferencesoffamilyeducationwhichincludetheconceptsofeducation,aimofeducation,methodsofeducationandcontentsofeducationbetweenAmericaandChina.
Ii.ThereasonsforthedifferencesbetweenAmericanfamilyeducationandChinesefamilyeducationaredifferenthistoricalbackground,differenteconomicform,differentsocialconditions,anddifferenttraditionalculture.
iii.Theresultsoftwodifferentkindsoffamilyeducation:
abilityofadaptingtothesociety;Abilityoflivingindependently;Interpersonalrelationships;Responsibilityofsupportingtheold;therelationshipamongfamilymembers.
iv.DiscussionsandSuggestions.Itisnecessarytochangetraditionalfamilyeducationideas.Withthedevelopmentofsociety,allaspectsoffamilyeducationneedtobeimproved.
I.ThedifferencesoffamilyeducationbetweenAmericaandChina:
1.Theconceptsoffamilyeducationaredifferent.
ThedifferenteducationconceptsbetweenAmericaandChinaleadchildrentoreceivedifferenteducation.Firstly,let’stalkabouttwoconceptsoffamilyeducation.InAmerica,parents’aimsaretotraintheirchildrentohavetheabilityofadaptingtoenvironmentalvarietyandtheabilityoflivingindependently.Basedonthisconcept,mostAmericanparentsstressmoretotraintheirchildren’sabilityofindependenceoncetheyareborn.Theygenerallybelievethatchildren’sgrowthmustrelyontheirownexperiences,becausetheythinkthatchildrenshouldformaself-supportingwillandthecapacitytoliveindependentlysincetheirchildhood.Andthecapacitycomesfromthetrainingintheearlyage.Theso-calledtrainingcontainsmanyaspects,suchaswork,temperwill,patience,thespiritofhardwork,etc.However,themostfundamentaltrainingistheabilityofadaptingtohardconditions.Throughtheprocessofwork,childrenwillformthelaborsense,learnsomeworkskillsandformahabitoflabor.Besides,childrencanlearnhowtoovercomedifficulties,tempertheirwillpower,developtheirtalentsandskills,richtheirknowledge,andformahabitofhardworkandthriftybyworkinginhardconditions.Itisjustintheunconsciouslyprocessthatchildrenwillobtaintheindependentsurvivabilityandtaketheresponsibilitiesforthesociety.
However,theChineseparentsonlycaretheirchildren’spromisefuture,havemuchmoneyandhaveawonderfullife.Basedontheseexpectations,mostofparentsfeelthattheirresponsibilityfortheirchildrenistocreateasgoodconditionsaspossibletheycansothatthechildrenwillnotworryaboutanythinginthefuture[ii].Chineseparentswouldliketoprovideeverythingwhattheycanfortheirchildrenintheprocessofchildren’sgrowth.Inafewwords,theywouldliketosacrificeanythingiftheirchildrencanlivebetterwiththeirhelp.Therefore,intheprocessofchildren’sgrowth,themostimportantthingtheparentsworryingaretodeveloptheirchildren’sintellect,exceptforcaringchildren’sdailylife.Inordertomaketheirchildrenhaveagoodgradeinstudy,becomeoutstanding,orevenbecomeafamouspersoninthefuture,theywouldnotlettheirchildrendoanythingexceptstudying.
Fromtheabove,wecanknowthatAmericanparentsgenerallybelievethatthegrowthofchildrenmustdependontheirownstrength,abilitiesandexperiences.Basedonthisconcept,themajorityofAmericanparentsstressmoretotraintheirchildren’sabilityofindependencewhentheyareborn,becausetheythinkthatchildrenshouldformaself-supportingwill.Andthecapacitycomesfromthetrainingintheearlyage[iii].
Inthefilm《GuamShamTreatment》[iv],thereisascenethatDatongorderedhissontoapologizetohisboss’ssonwhenhesawhissonwasfightingwithhisboss’sson.What’smore,heslappedhissoninthefacewhenhissonrefusedtoapologize,whichmadehisbossinashock.Hisbossbecameconfusedwhythefatherwouldshowtheregretbystrikinghisson.Thissceneandtheboss’sconfusionindicatethedifferentconceptsoffamilyeducationbetweenthetwocountries.TraditionalChinesefamilyeducationemphasizekindheartednessandobedience[v],sowecansaythatChineseparentslikeDatonginthefilmalwayswanttomodeltheirchildren.However,whichisdifferentisthatAmericachildrenhavemorerightsofself-governmentbecausetheirparentsemphasisonjusticeandfreedomintheprocessoffamilyeducation.
Accordingtotheabovesaying,wecanknowthattheconceptsoffamilyeducationbetweenAmericaandChinaaredifferent.
2.Theaimoffamilyeducationisdifferent[vi].
Theaimoffamilyeducationistodevelopthechildrentogrowinsomedirectionbyfamilyeducation.Itistherestrictivefactorforthedirectionoffamilyeducation,decidingthegeneraleffectofit.Sotheaimoffamilyeducationisthecoreoffamilyeducationandthebasicreasonforthedifferencesbetweenthetwocountriesonfamilyeducation.
Thereisanelementarydifferencebetweentwocountries’aimoffamilyeducation,withtoexpectthechildtobecomeanoutstandingpersonageandtohopethechildtobeancomprehensiveandindependentpersongivingexpressionstothedifference.TomostChineseparents,theaimisexpectingtheirsontobea“dragon”,whichis“Wangzichenglong”andtheirgirltobea“phoenix”,whichis“Wangnvchengfeng”inChinese.ButAmericanparentshopethechildtobeamanofabilitywhichis“Wangzi\nvchengren”inChineseastheiraim.ForChineseparents,theiraimistodoanythingtosupporttheirchildrentogethighperformance.Whatformsapparentcontrasttoitis,Americaparentsgivetheirchildrenmoretrainingaboutimprovingabilities.Theytrytodeveloptheirchildrentohavetheabilityofadaptingtoenvironmentalvarietyandtheabilityoflivingindependently.
Inconsequence,wesaythattheaimoffamilyeducationbetweenAmericaandChinaaredifferent.
3.ThemethodsaredifferentbetweenAmericaandChina.
Thedifferencesofconceptsandaimleadtothechildrentobetaughtbydifferentwaysandmethods.InChinesefamily,affectedbyChinesetraditionalculture,parentseducatechildrenby“control”and“seal”type.Therearethreetipsforit:
(1)Chineseparentspreparethewholethingsfortheirchildrenintheirdailylife.InChinesefamily,childrendon’thavetodoanyhousework,becauseChineseparentscompleteallthehouseworkbythemselves.
(2)Chineseparentsprotectthechildrentoexcessinsocialactivities.Manychildrenarepreventingfromexposingtotheouterworldbecausetheirparentsworryaboutchildren’sbeingaffectedbybadthings[vii].
(3)Chineseparentshavearatherstrictattitudetochildren’sstudy.Parentsregardthegradesastheonlystandardforfuturesuccess.“TasksSea”strategyisoftenusedinstudy.Chinesechildrenaretiredofdoingmanyextraexercises,andsomeChinesechildrenevencan’tstandsuchsituation.Butbecausetheirparents’requirementtheyhavetodoit,eveniftheyhateitverymuch.
SoChinesechildrenspendmoretimeinstudyingthandoingotherthings.WhataboutAmericachildren?

4.ThedifferentcontentsoffamilyeducationbetweenAmericaandChina.
Thedifferencesoffamilyeducationbetweenthetwocountriesarealsorefluxedinthecontentsoffamilyeducation.AlthoughthecontentsofChinesefamilyeducationcanalsodividedintomoraleducation,intellectualeducation,physicaleducationandartisticeducation,butintellectualeducationhasbeenthemostimportantonesincetheygotoschool.However,thecontentsofAmericanfamilyeducationareveryabundant,whichpaymoreattentiontotheharmoniousdevelopmentoflanguage,emotion,knowledgeandsoon.Itisso-called“educationforall-arounddevelopment[ix]”.
FromthiswecanknowthatthecontentsoffamilyeducationbetweenAmericaandChinaaredifferent.
