WealsospentalittlelessthanaweekonasmallislandcalledKohSamed,anislandwhosechiefactivityistourism,andwherethereisnothingelsetodobutlayonthebeach,eat,drink,swim,read,andbemerry.Wedidalloftheabove,andlotsofit.Thesandiswhite,theseaisjade,andtheweatherwasperfect.
Bangkokisn‘tsosimpletodescribe,butI‘llofferafewhighlights:
Manyofthestreetsarejustfilledwithtinystallsandcarts,sellingeverythingfromclothestosouvenirstoelectronicstoallkindsofThaifoods.Thefoodisexcellent.
Bangkokhasnotonlyabigrivergoingdownthemiddleofit,butalsonumerouscanalsthatuntilrecentdecadeswereoneofthemainwaterwaysofthecity.Wetookaslowmotorboattourandsawsomeveryinterestingviewsofthecity,missedbymanytourists,throughthecanals.
Bangkokissuchaninternationalcity,andthisisreflectedinthepeople(everykindoflanguageandaccentfilltheair)andinthewonderfulfood.WesamplevariouskindsofThairestaurantsalongwithallkindsofEuropean,Asian,Indian,MiddleEasternfoodandmore.Greatshopping,fromluxurymallstogiganticoutdoormarkets.
Thepeoplearesointeresting,fromtheexcessivelyfriendlytoutstryingtogetustogoplacesforlotsofmoney,tothemanynicepeoplewemetwhoareverygenerouswhenyoushowaninterestintheircountryandculture.
Again,Icouldgoonandon,butlet‘sjustsayIhadapleasanttime.
