Theincreaseinthenumberofcounterfeitspenetratingintotheopenmarkethascreatedtheneedforaproductauthenticationapproachintracingandtrackingtheproductanytime,anywhere.Owingtothevagueconceptsfrequentlyrepresentedinflowofproducts,thispaperpresentsaself-valuationandvisualizationsystembyintegratingtheRFIDtechnologyandEPCconcepttoprotectproductsfromcounterfeitingbythemeansofmobileplatform.Inthispaper,asystemarchitectureisproposedwhichiscapableofintegratingmobiletechnologyandEPC-RFIDapplications.Theimplementationroadmapofsuchsystemarchitectureisexaminedandexplainedinthecontextofacasestudy.Theaimsofthesystemaretoprovidegreatervisibilityoftheproductlogisticflowdataandtoimprovetheanti-counterfeitprocess,fromtraditionalphysicalidentificationtoself-validatedlocation-basedauthentication.Thecasestudyillustratesthecapability,benefitsandadvantagesofusingtheproposedsystem,particularlyitssupportofproductauthenticationandsupplychainactivitiesincounteringtheglobalcounterfeitproblems.
