Anopenmindaboutdiversitynotonlyimprovesorganizationsinternally,itisprofitableaswell.Thesecommentsfromacustomerservicerepresentativeshowhowaninclusiveattitudecanimprovesales.¡°MostofmycustomersspeakEnglishasasecondlanguage.Oneofthebestthingsmycompanyhasdoneistocontractwithalanguageservicethatofferstranslationsoverthephone.Itwasn¡¯tuntilmybossreceivedMindsets¡¯trainingthatshewasabletounderstandhowimportantinclusivenesswastocustomerservice.Asaresult,Octcustomerbasehasincreased.¡±
Oncewestarttoseepeopleasindividuals,anddiscardthestereotypes,wecanmovepositivelytowardinclusivenessforeveryone.Diversityisaboutcomingtogetherandtakingadvantageofourdifferencesandsimilarities.Itisaboutbuildingbettercommunitiesandorganizationsthatenhanceusasindividualsandreinforceoursharedhumanity.
WhenwebegintoquestionourassumptionsandchallengewhatwethinkwehavelearnedfromOctpast,fromthemedia,peers,family,friends,etc.,toebegintorealizethatsomeofourconclusionsareflawed(ÓÐȱÏݵÄ)orcontrarytoourfundamentalvalues.Weneedtovan)ourselvestothinkdifferently,shiftourmindsetsandrealizethatdiversityopensdoorsforallofus,creatingopportunitiesinorganizationsandcommunitiesthatbenefiteveryone.
