RockandRollwasborninAmerica,whichdevelopedin1950s,andthrivedin1960srockandroll,.Inthe1960s,thedevelopmentofthespecialsocialenvironment,cultureandeconomyintheUnitedStatescreatedtheconditionsfortheformationanddevelopmentofrockandrollrockandroll,.TheemergenceanddevelopmentofrockandrollintheUnitedStatesalsoproducedgreatinfluencesonAmericansociety.Inthispaper,Iwilldescribethehistoryandthecultureof1960s’inAmerica.Accordingtoanalysethedevelopmentofrockmusicin1960sinAmerica,wecanconcludethatthebackgroundinformationofthe1960sintheUnitedStatescreatedtheconditionsfortheformationanddevelopmentofrockandrollrockandroll,.Whilethedevelopmentofrockandrollinthe1960sintheUnitedStatesproducedgreatinfluencesonAmericansociety.Generallyspeaking,therockmusicnotonlyimpactedonthetraditionalvaluesoftheUnitedStates,butalsoimpactedontheracialoutlookandspiritoftheageoftheUnitedStates.

1.Introduction:
RockandRollwasborninAmerica,whichdevelopedin1950s,andthrivedin1960s.However,inthe1960s,Americaenteredanewhistoricalperiod,theU.S.economywasturnedtoanewroundofcyclicaldownturnbythepostwarboom,andthensocialproblemsexacerbated.Thus,duringthisperiod,somecivilrightsandculturalmovementstookplace.Butrockmusicthrived;what’smore,itproducedgreatinfluencesonAmericasociety.Therefore,itcanbesaidthattherewasacloselyrelationshipbetweenrockmusicandtheAmericansociety.
Inthisthesis,myattentionispaidtoanalyserockandrollin1960sinAmerica.Iwilldescribethehistoryandthecultureof1960s’inAmerica.Accordingtotheanalysisofthedevelopmentofrockmusicin1960sinAmerica,wecanconcludethatthedevelopmentofthespecialsocialenvironment,cultureandeconomyin1960sintheUnitedStatescreatedtheconditionsfortheformationanddevelopmentofrockandrollrockandroll,.TheemergenceanddevelopmentofrockandrollintheUnitedStatesproducedgreatinfluencesonAmericansociety.Generallyspeaking,therockmusicnotonlyimpactedonthetraditionalvaluesoftheUnitedStates,butalsoimpactedontheracialoutlookandspiritoftheageoftheUnitedStates.

Reviewingthefirsthalfofthe20thCenturyofthehistoryinUnitedStatesfrom1920sand1930s,therewasagreatdepressioninEuropeandtheUnitedStatesowingtotheeconomiccrisis.Attheendof30s,theSecondWorldWarbrokeout.In1941,JapanattackedPearlHarborledtotheUnitedStateswasinanti-fascistwar.Inthe1950s,theUnitedStateshadaperiodofrelativestabilityandprosperity,whichisoftenregardedastheAmericaneraofprosperity.
Lookingatthe1950s,afterEisenhowerbecamePresidentin1952,theAmericaneconomybegantobestable,andthesocietybeguntobecomeastateinwhichpeoplelivedandworkedinpeaceandmostofpeoplefeltcontent.Hence,middleclasswasswelling,andtheirownchildrenwereborninthebabyboomsothattheworldbecameayoungman’sworldbecauseoftheunprecedentedgrowthinthenumberofteenagers.Atthattime,theextracurricularlifeofchildrenwasstayingwiththeirfamilies.AndTVprogramswerealsohealthieratthattime,andthepeople’stasteofmusicisnotsomuchdifferent,sotwogenerationsusuallyenjoyedthesamemusic.Inthe1940sand1950s,therewasthe“bigband”playingmusic,andtheirlyricsoftenrepresentedpureloveandlastedfordecades.Duringthisperiod,themusicwasnotthreatening,ittriedtogivepeopleacomfortableandpeacefulfeeling.
Aslifeconditionsweresuperiorinthe1950s,thebatchofteenagersthatgrewupinthistime,whodidnotliketheirparents’lifestylewhichexperiencedsomewarsandmisery.Asaresult,theybegantomisunderstandtheirparents’thoughtandthewayoftheirlife,andtheywereunwillingtotravelthepathwhichtheirparentshadarrangedforhim.Theyhadtheirownpursuitandpassion.Therefore,theregraduallyformedapowerfulforcewiththelargenumberofyouth,whonolongerfollowedtheirparentstoadmirethesentimentalpopsongs.Atthispoint,theyjustfoundtheirownvoiceintherockandroll.However,rockmusicissimple,powerfulandstraightforward,especiallyitsstrongrhythmwasinconformitywiththecharacteristicsoftheadolescent’senergetic,active;andthefreeperformancesituationofrockandrollwascorrespondingtotheirrebelliousattitude.Rocksongs’themewascloselyrelatedtotheirconcerns.Becauseoftheentireannouncement,therockandrollwouldgraduallycometothecenterofthebigstageoftheera.

Intheearly1950s,Americanpopmusicmarketappearedaphenomenonofthethreepillars.BlackpeopleappreciatedthemusicwasbasicallyRhythmandBlues(R&B).AbovethemiddleclasswaswhitewholikedlisteningtotheTinPanAlley.Midwestruralaudiencelovedcountrymusicwhichrelatedtotherurallife.However,inthe1950smedium-term(1954~1956),musicmarketappearedtwoobviousphenomena,namely“markets”and“coverversion”.“Markets”referredtotheoriginalissueofrecord,atthesametime,therewasamarketinanothercitywhichalsogotverygoodgrades.Therefore,somemajorrecordlabelssoonbecauseofthepopularR&Bsongstoproducetheirownversion,resultingintheemergenceofalargenumberof“coverversions”.Thistime,therockandrollwasanewstyleofficiallyborn.
2.3TheOriginsofthePhrase
Rock'n'Rollisformallyproducedinthe1950s,butthewordappearedasearlyastheearly1950s.In1951,thehostofClevelandradioshow,AlanFreed,tookanR&Bsong“We'reGoannaRock,We'reGoannaRoll”.Andthenthephrase“Rock'n'Roll”wascreated.In1955,themovieBlackboardJunglebroughtgreatinfluenceonrockmusic.Ittoldastorythatagroupofstudentswhowantedtorevolt.Thissongwastheepisodeofthefilm“Rockandrolldayandnight”(RockAroundTheClock);andthissongcausedagreatsensationintheadolescents.InJuly1955,DayandNightmadetherockmusicwonthefirstprizeinthelistofPOP,whichmarksthearrivaloftherockmusic’sage.Thesinger,BillHaley,thusbecamethefirstrockyouthidol.Sincethen,rockmusicbegantosweepthecountry.
