ELASTOMERCOMPOSITION
Abstract
Achlorinatedpolyolefincomposition,including100masspartsofachlorinatedpolyolefin,1to15masspartsofanepoxyderivative,and0.05to3masspartsofastabilizer.Thechlorinatedpolyolefinisobtainedbychlorinatingapolyolefinbeingselectedfromethylenehomopolymerorethylene-alpha-olefincopolymer,andhasadensityof0.90ormore;andthechlorinatedpolyolefinhasachlorinecontentof25to45%bymass,ameltflowrateof0.1to300g/10minutes,andaheatofcrystalfusionasdeterminedbyDSCof20to60J/g.Theepoxyderivativeisselectedfromepoxidizedunsaturatedoil,andepoxidizedunsaturatedfattyacidester,epichlorhydrinderivativeandepoxycyclohexanederivative,andthestabilizerisselectedfromahydrotalciteminerals.

TECHNICALFIELD
Thepresentinventionrelatestoachlorinatedpolyolefinandacompositionwhichhasthechlorinatedpolyolefin.Moreparticularly,thepresentinventionrelatestoachlorinatedpolyolefin,andacompositionwhichhasthechlorinatedpolyolefin,thatissuitableasamaterialofathermoplasticelastomerforconstitutingtubes,sheets,filmsandsoforthformedical,foodandotherindustrialapplicationshavingsuperiortransparency,mechanicalstrength,γ0ray-resistantsterilizabilityandsolventadhesionpropertyaswellassuperiorsafetysubstantiallywithoutcontainingaplasticizer.
BACKGROUNDART
Chlorinatedpolyolefinsarechlorinationproductsobtainedbychlorinatingpolyolefinssuchaspolyethylene.ChlorinatedpolyolefinsusedforresinmodificationorascrosslinkedrubberandthermoplasticelastomersaretypicallyusedasmodifiersofABSandpolyvinylchlorideresinsandinwirecoverings,automotiveandindustrialrubberparts,rubbermagnetsandsoforth.
Inaddition,inexpensive,softpolyvinylchlorideiswidelyusedintubes,sheetsandfilmsformedical,foodandotherindustrialapplications,andmorespecifically,intransfusionsets,bloodcircuitsforartificialrenaldialysis,wrappingfilmandvarioustypesofhoses,duetoitssuperiortransparency,mechanicalstrengthandsolventadhesionproperty.
However,althoughsoftpolyvinylchlorideresinisobtainedbyheatingandkneadingacompositioncomposedofpolyvinylchloridepowder,plasticizerandothercomponents,andtheinexpensive,general-purposeplasticizer,di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate(DOP),isusedfortheplasticizer,therehasrecentlybeenagrowingdemandformaterialsnotcontainingphthalicacidestersinconsiderationofproblemsassociatedwithso-calledenvironmentalhormones(endocrinedisruptors).
Inaddition,manyofthemedicaldevicesusingtubesorfilmsmadeofsoftpolyvinylchloridearesterilizedwithethyleneoxide.Thisisbecauseγ-raysterilizationcausesdeteriorationofthepolyvinylchlorideitself.
However,sincesterilizationwithethyleneoxideisconsideredtohaveaproblemintermsofitseffectontheenvironmentwhenresidualgasfollowingsterilization,namelygasremainingwithinpouchorbagmaterials,isreleasedduringopening,thereisagrowingtendencytouseγ-raysterilization.
Asonesolutiontothisproblem,theuseofanalternativeplasticizerhasbeenproposed.Morespecifically,thisinvolvesachangefromphthalicacidestertoatrimelliticacid-basedplasticizersuchastrioctyltrimellitate(TOTM)ortri-(2-ethylhexyl)trimellitate.Inthismethod,althoughtheamountofplasticizerelutedissuppressed,thereisnodifferencewithrespecttostillcontainingaplasticizer,andtheproblemofbeingresistanttoγ-raysterilizationremainsunsolved.
Inaddition,asanothersolution,athermoplasticelastomercompositionhasbeenproposedthatdoesnotcontainaplasticizer.Typicalexamplesincludepolybutadieneand/oracompositionofpolybutadieneandanotherpolymer(JP-A(JapaneseUnexaminedPatentPublication)No.2002-11092,PatentDocument1;andJP-ANo.2004-187817,PatentDocument2).However,notonlyispolybutadieneunsatisfactorywithrespecttoγ-ray-resistantsterilizability,sinceitalsopreventssolventadhesionproperty,thereareproblemswithreliabilitywhenjoiningtubeswithotherparts.
Ashasbeendescribedabove,conventionalalternativematerialstosoftpolyvinylchloridecontainingDOPhavebothadvantagesanddisadvantages,anddonotyetwarranttheirtakingtheplaceofsoftpolyvinylchloride.
Ontheotherhand,conventionalchlorinatedpolyolefinsandcompositionsthereoflacksatisfactorytransparencyandmechanicalstrength,andsaidmaterialshaveyettobefoundthatsatisfytheserequirementswhilealsorealizingsolventadhesionproperty.

DISCLOSUREOFTHEINVENTION
AnobjectofthepresentinventionistoprovideanelastomercompositionwhichcontainssubstantiallynoplasticizersuchasDOPorTOTM,allowsγ-raysterilizationandhasasolventadhesionproperty,anddemonstratessuperiorperformanceintermsofthefinishedproductwhenformedintoatubeandsoforth.
Amorespecificobjectofthepresentinventionistoprovideanelastomercompositionwhichiscapableofprovidingaperformanceintermsoftransparency,mechanicalstrength,permanentelongationandanti-crazing.
Asaresultofearneststudy,thepresentinventorshavefoundthattheabove-mentionedproblemsencounteredinthepriorartcanbesolvedbycombiningspecificamountsofachlorinatedpolyolefinhavingspecificproperties,anepoxyderivativeandastabilizerselectedfromahydrotalciteminerals,totherebyaccomplishthepresentinvention.
Thepresentinventionincludes,forexample,thefollowingembodimentsof[1]to[9].
[1]Achlorinatedpolyolefincomposition,comprising100masspartsofachlorinatedpolyolefin,1to15masspartsofanepoxyderivative,and0.05to3masspartsofastabilizer;
[whereinthechlorinatedpolyolefinisobtainedbychlorinatingapolyolefinbeingselectedfromethylenehomopolymerorethylene-x-olefincopolymer,andhasadensityof0.90ormore;andthechlorinatedpolyolefinhasachlorinecontentof25to45%bymass,ameltflowrateof0.1to300g/10minutes,andaheatofcrystalfusionasdeterminedbyDSCof20to60J/g;

BESTMODEFORCARRYINGOUTTHEINVENTION
ChlorinatedPolyolefinComposition
Thechlorinatedpolyolefincompositionaccordingtothepresentinventioncomprises100masspartsofachlorinatedpolyolefin,1to15masspartsofanepoxyderivative,and0.05to3masspartsofastabilizerselectedfromahydrotalciteminerals.
Thechlorinatedpolyolefinusedinthepresentinventionisobtainedbychlorinatingtherawmaterialpolyolefinbyanordinarymethodsuchastheaqueoussuspensionmethodorthevaporphasemethodandsoforth,andtherearenolimitationsonthechlorinationmethod.Inaddition,examplesoftheconditionsofthechlorinationreactionincludeamethodinvolvingcontinuouschlorinationatatemperatureequaltoorlowerthanthecrystalmeltingpeaktemperatureaccordingtotheDSCmethodforrawmaterialpolyolefins,andamethodcomprisingafirststepinwhichapolyolefinischlorinatedatatemperatureequaltoorhigherthanthecrystalmeltinginitiationtemperatureaccordingtotheDSCmethodforrawmaterialolefinsandatleast10°C.lowerthanthecrystalmeltingpeaktemperature,asecondstepinwhichthesupplyofchlorineisinterruptedfollowedbyheattreatmentbyheatingtoatemperaturethatexceedsatemperature5°C.lowerthanthecrystalmeltingpeaktemperature,andathirdstepinwhichchlorinationisrepeated.
