Theideathattheanimalsareabletopredictdisastersisnothingnew.Infact,ithasbeenwell-recordedovertheyears.TwelvehoursbeforeHurricaneCharliehitFloridain2004,fourteensharkslefttheirnaturalhabitatandstayedindeepwatersfortwoweeks.Thesharks,whichwerebeingobservedbyUSscientists,hadneverdonethisbefore.Theyescapedthehurricane.Inthewinterof1975inHaicheng,China,snakeswhichwouldnormallyhavebeenhibernating(冬眠)wereseenontheground.Dayslatertherewasabigearthquakestriking.
Unlikehumanbeings,wildanimals’sensesaresharperandtheycanfeeleventhesmallestchangesintheenvironment.Inotherwords,theyseenaturalwarningsthatareinvisibletothehumaneye.Ancientpeopleprobablyhadthesimilar“senses”,whichtheyneededtosurvive,butthesehavebeenlosttousasmoderntechnologyleadsusfurtherawayfromthedangerthatnaturecreates.
