Thecontentofanabstractcannotbespecifieduniformlyowingtothediversityofpossibletopicsandtreatments.Itgenerallycontains

（1）yourargument;

（2）methodsorprocedures;（3）results;and（4）conclusions.

ThelengthoftheEnglishabstractislimitedtoamaximumof150words.TheChineseabstractshouldcorrespondwiththeEnglishabstract.

Thefirstpageshouldbearthecenteredheading“ABSTRACT,”thetitleofthethesis,andthenameofthecandidate,withquadruplespacing（threelines）before,betweenandaftereachitem.

1.2.1Headings

Thethesispropershouldhaveatitleinboldandenlargedtype.

1.2.2Paper

UseonlyA4whitepaperofgoodqualityandleavesufficientmargins（top:

2.5cm;bottom:

2.5cm;left:

3.5cm;right:

2.5cm）.

1.2.3Type

Thetypefaces（fonts）usedmustbekeptconsistentthroughoutthethesis.TimesNewRoman12pt（English）and宋体五号/10.5pt（Chinese）aretobeusedforthemaintext,boldArial（English）and黑体（Chinese）forchapterandsectiontitles.Differenttypefacesmayonlybeusedforchaptertitles,tables,graphs,appendices,andpagination.

ThefirstlineofeachparagraphshouldbeginwithanindentationofONETAB（5spaces）.

Themaintextshouldbe1.5SPACEDthroughout.SINGLESPACINGshouldbeusedforblockquotationsandillustrativeexamples.

1.2.4Pagination

Allpagesofthethesismustbenumberedinthelowerrightcorner,beginningwiththefirstpageofintroduction.SmallRomannumerals（i,ii,iii,iv,etc.）areusedforPrefatoryMatter（titlepage,Acknowledgements,abstracts,etc.）.Thetitlepage’snumberisomitted,so“ii”shouldappearonthefollowingpage.

1.2.5Citation

Referencestomaterialsusedinadocumentenablesreaderstoevaluateitsauthor’saccuracyanddeepentheirownacquaintanceswiththeissuesathand.Citationsystemsmaydifferfromoneanotherindetailsoforder,capitalization,abbreviationandpunctuation.LiteratureandtranslationthesesshouldconsistentlyadheretotheMLAconventions.

1.2.6Quotations

Quotationsmustbeaccurateandmustsignalchangesbyuseofbracketsandellipses.

Ashortquotationoffewerthanthreelinesshouldbeincorporatedintothetextandsetoffbyquotationmarks.Acommaorperiodprecedestheclosingquotationmarkunderallcircumstancesevenifonlyonewordisquoted.Acolonorsemicolonalwaysfollowsthequotationmark.Aquestionmarkfollowsthequotationmarkunlessthequestionisitselfpartofthematerialquoted.

Alongerquotation（ofmorethanthreelines）shouldbesetoffinaseparateparagraphcalleda“blockquotation.”AblockquotationissinglespacedwithinmarginsONETABorfivespaceswiderthanthoseofitssurroundingtext.Anadditionalindentationoffourspacesshouldprecedethefirstlinethatbeginsanewsentence（ratherthancontinuesasentencefromthetext）.QuotationmarksareNOTusedatthebeginningandendofblockquotations.

Thereferencecitationofeachquotationmuststatetheexactpageorpagesquoted.

1.3PostscripturalMatter

1.3.1WorksCited

“WorksCited”shouldfollowthethesisproper.Thereferencesmustbearrangedalphabeticallybytheirauthors’surnamesandshouldNOTbenumbered.Theyshouldcontaintheinformationintheorderprescribedbythestylemanual.The“WorksCited”sectionbeginsanewpage.

1.3.2Appendices

Anappendixcontainsmaterialthatthreatenstointerruptthethesis’floworboreitsreaders.Informationprovidedinanappendixshouldbenecessaryandcomplete.

Appendixpagescontinuethepaginationofthethesisasawhole.Theletterdesignation,fulltitle,andpagenumberofeachappendixshould,appearintheTableofContents.
