AbstractBIMisincreasinglygettingintotheawarenessinconstructionindustry.BIMistheprocessofcreatinganddatamanagingofthebuildingduringitslifecycle.BIMbecameapartofmanagementtoolsinmodernconstructioncompanies.Constructionprojectshaveanumberofparticipants.Itmeansdifficultyprocessofconstructionprojectmanagementandaseriousrequirementforprocessingthehugeamountofinformationincludingdesign,construction,timeandcostparameters,economicefficiencyandsustainability.Progressiveinformationandcommunicationtechnologiessupportcostmanagementandmanagementofconstructionproject.OneofthemisBuildingInformationModelling.AimofthepaperistoexaminetheimpactofBIMexploitationandbenefitsonconstructionprojectmanagementinSlovakcompanies.
1.Introduction
Theexploitationofprogressivetechnologiesintheconstructionprojectmanagementrepresentsagreaterpotentialeachday.Thepossibilityofusingnewtechnologiesinconstructionprojectmanagement(especiallyforcostmanagement,costreducing,designofbuildings,drawingandplanningofconstructionprojectsgenerally)issteadilyincreasingbydevelopingofnewsoftwaresolutions.AccordingtoMesárošetal.,costmanagementisthereforeanessentialconditionfortheeffectivemanagementofconstructionprojects.Infact,thecostreducingisnottheonlyonebenefitofexploitationprogressivetechnology.Accordingtootherresearchers,itisnowadaysnecessarytoanalysetheotherbenefitsthatnewtechnologiesbringineveryarea.Inconstructionprojectmanagement,BIMtechnologyisoneofthepossibleandavailablesolutionsfortheabovementionedtasks.
BIM(BuildingInformationModelling)thereforewasgenerallymentionedanddefinedinanumberofpublications,conferencesandworkshops.OtherauthorswaretalkingaboutBIMlikethetermthatisincreasinglygettingintotheawarenessinconstructionindustry.ThefirstmentionoftheBIMconceptwasrecordedin2002.Veryoften,theconceptofBIMisperceivedasacomputerprogramora3Dmodel
thatisonlypartofit.BIMconcepthasseveraldefinitions.Buildinginformationmodellingistheprocessofcreatinganddatamanagingaboutthebuildingmodelduringitslifecycle.AccordingtoNationalInstituteofBuildingScience,informationobtainedthroughinformationmodellingarecrucialforeffectiveandaccuratedesignofconstructiondocuments,constructionplanning,costestimatingandpredictingtrafficbuilding.Informationmodellingthusnotonlycreatesa3Dmodel,but4D(time),5D(cost)andXDmodel.Inaddition,itispossibletosaythatBIMisthetoolformanagingrelationsbetweentheparticipantsaconstructionproject.BIMiscurrentlythemostcommondenominationforanewwayofapproachingthedesign,constructionandmaintenanceofbuildings.
DuetotheoverviewofavailableresourcesandofthediscussionofBIM,itmayseemthatweshallallwassaidaboutBIMandthatthistoolisoftenused.Thereisaquestionwhetherthisisactuallytrue.Dotheconstructioncompaniesreallyusethistoolasspokenabout?
AndwhatisperceptionofconstructioncompaniesonBIMtool?
WhatarebenefitsofexploitationofBIM?
Thereareonlyafewquestions,thatarenecessarydiscussesinBIMtopic.Thatisbasicofthisresearchproblem,whatwasformulatedtotheseresearchquestions:

▪Whatisperceptionofthisbenefitsbyconstructioncompanies?
▪WhatisexploitationlevelofBIMinconstructioncompanies?
▪WhatisimpactonthebiggestbenefitofBIMusing?
Therearesomequestionsthatisnecessarytofindtheanswers,whenweareanalysingtheissueofBIMinselectedmarketorenvironmentinconstructionprojectmanagement.
2.Literaturereview
TheissueofBIMisdevotedtoaseriesofauthors.IntermsofthestatusofbasicresearchquestionsitistherighttotalkprimarilyaboutresearchaimedonbenefitsofusingBIMtechnology.Accordingalotofstudiesandinvestigations,costreducingisoneofthebiggestbenefitofBIMexploitation.Nextbenefitswassetastimereducing,productivityincreasingandmore.OneofthebiggestbenefitofBIMexploitationinconstructionprojectarecostreducingandcontrol.Itrepresents60%ofrespondentsintheirresearch.
Theotherauthorsweretalkingaboutbenefitsintheirinvestigationtoo.Theymentionedsmainlybudgetaspectanddesignaspectasmainbenefit.
BetweenmainlybenefitsofBIMexploitationitcanbepossibleincludetimereducingandcostreducinginconstructionprojectmanagement.ItconfirmedresearchrealisedbyIanandDamian.Inadditiontotheabovebenefits,theauthorsmentionedthesavingofhumanresources.
OtherresearchstudyconfirmedsavingsofprojectcostbyusingofBIM.ThebiggestbenefitistimereducinginschedulepreparingtroughBIMtechnology.ThisresearchdescribedpossibilitiesofmeasurementintheissueofBIMexploitationandbenefits.ThemainareaofinvestigationformeasurementofBIMbenefitswasspecified.Betweenmainareaitwasselectedbyresearchresultsespeciallyarea:

3.Methodology
3.1.Researchquestionsandaims
Basedontheevaluationofthecurrentstateofart,basicresearchquestionswere
raised:
▪WhatarebenefitsofBIMusing?
▪Whatisperceptionofthisbenefitsbyconstructioncompanies?
▪WhatisexploitationlevelofBIMinconstructioncompanies?
▪WhatisimpactonthebiggestbenefitofBIMusing?
ThesubjectofresearchwasSlovakconstructionindustry.ConstructionprojectmanagementandBIMexploitationinSlovakiaisnotwellresearched,despitefrequentdiscussionsonthisissue.
Basedonthedeterminationofresearchquestions,theresearchobjectiveshavebeenset.MainobjectiveofthisresearchwastoanalyzeandquantifythebenefitsofBIMusingintermsofSlovakconstructionprojectmanagement.AnotheraimofresearchwastoexaminetheexploitationofBIMtoolisinSlovakconstructionindustry.Basedonthisaimsofresearch,thepartialaimwasset:
answertothequestion“whatisimpactofthebiggestbenefitofBIMusingonconstructionprojectmanagement”.
3.2.Datacollectionandresearchsample
Datacollectionwasconductedbythequestionnaire.Questionnairewasdesignedanddistributedinelectronicform.QuestionnairewasproducedbyonlineplatformFORMEESinelectronicform.Theresearchsamplewasapproachedbye-mailwiththerequesttoparticipateintheresearch.Totalwereinterviewed1276ofrespondents(constructioncompaniesinSlovakia).Itparticipatedinthequestionnairesurvey85
respondents.Itrepresentsareturnof6.66%.Generally,itispossibletoreturntothelevelof4.31%isconsideredasgood.ResearchsampleismoredescribedinTable2.
