Morethan100millionchildrenwillneversetfootinaschool.Sixtypercentofthosechildrenaregirls.CherylFaye,headoftheUNGirlsEducationInitiative,spokeaboutthemanyfactorsthatpreventgirlsfromgettinganeducation.Oneproblemisthelongdistancemanychildrenmusttraveltogettoschool.Also,girlsinmanyculturesaretraditionallyexpectedtomarryearlyandworktohelptheirfamilies.“Weneedtomakeaspecialeffortforgirls,”Fayesaid.
