Wantingtoenjoythebeautyofthemountains,mywifeandIplannedadayhiketotheBrown'sCreekwaterfall.Thekidswereexcited,adayhike,especiallyadayspentwithDad(notenoughofthoseasIlookback).
OurhikewouldtakeusuptheBrown'sCreektrailandafterabout3milesthewaterfallwouldbeonourleft,atleastthatiswhatIwastold.Thenthetrailtookusthroughabeautifulgrasslandandacrossthecreekacoupleoftimes.Wedecidedtoturnbackbeforereachingthewaterfalls,mostlybecauseweweretiredandstilldidn'tknowhowmuchfurtheritwas.Whilecross
ingthecreekbywalkingonadownedtreetrunk,ourlittleIzziefellintothecreekandimmediatelystartedmovingupanddowninthewater.
Immediately,Ijumpedintotheriver.Imanagedtograbherandpushhertotheriverbank.Butnow,Iwastheoneinneedofbeingrescued.IthoughtthismightbetheendandIwasn'tsureifIcouldholdon.Then,Iheardthefamiliarvoiceoftheloveofmylife,mywife'svoice.Sheshoutedsomethinglike—StandUp!
WiththelastbitofstrengthIcouldgather,Istood,andwalkedoutoftheragingriver.Thekidsshowedlittleconcernformywellbeing(安康);theywereattendingIzzie,nowsafeintheirarms.ButIdidhearoneofthekidssay:
