WheneverIamfacedwithanimportantdecision,IseekadvicefromotherssothatIamwell-informedandhavethebenefitoftheirperspectioveandexperience.
3.Myopniononadvertisement
Advertisementsappeareverywhereinmodernsociety.Therearemanywaytoadvertise
andadscomeindifferentforms.Newspapersandbillboardscarryadvertisements;
someproductsareannouncedonTVandradiowhichhaveawideaudience.Advertising
isabigindustryandmanyagenciesaresetupforfurnishavarietyofservices
forit.
However,advertisingisnotwelcomesometimes.Amostirritatingthingistowatch
advertisementsbeforeandduringfilmsonTV.Therearesomanyofthemthatthey
makeyouforgetwhatyouaresittingtherefor.Theironicalthingisthat
advertisementsofonetypeofthingsareoftenshownoneafteranothersothatyou
areconfusedastowhichproductyoushouldchoose.What’smore,advertisingis
notalwaystruthful.Theadvertisersexaggeratethebenefitsofthemerchandisethey
wanttosellinordertogainmoreprofits.Thustheconsumerfallsvictimtosuch
advertising.
Althoughtherearedisadvantagesofads,wecannotforgettheadvantagesandthe
conveniencestheybringtous.First,bytellinguswheresomethingisavailable,
theymaysaveusmoneyandtime.Theyguideusinfindingsuitablejobsandother
informationaswell.Secondly,awiderangeofactivitiesandinstitutionsreceive
finanicalsupportthroughadvertising.Withoutthissupportwewouldhavetopay
muchmorefornewspatersandsportsgames.Thirdly,perfectadvertisementseven
provideentertainment.Aconsiderableamountofeffortgoesintotheirproduction.
Soinmostcasesthephotographyistrulyartistic,theslogansaregenuinelywitty,
andthesituationsaredecidelyfunny.
Generallyspeaking,advertisementshavebecomeoneofthemostauthoritativevoices
speakingtoustoday.Letusmakeourlifeeasierbylearningtochooseproperads,
andbethemasterofadvertisements,nottheirsalve.
4.Livinginuniversitydormitoriesorapartmentsinthecommunity?
Ithinkitisbetterforcollegestudentstoliveoncampusduringtheirfirst
twoyears,andthenmoveintoanapartmentforoff-campuslife,whilejuniorsandseniorsneedtheindependenceofoff-campuslife.student’sneedshangeoverfouryears,sotheirhousingshouldtoo.
Livingon-campusmakesiteasiertogetorientedtothewaythingsaredone.Yougetthewholeuniversityexperience.Plus,youinteractmorewithotherstudents.Thisincludesnotonlyyourroommates,buteveryoneinyourdormitory.Theolderstudentsinthedormitorycanbeabighelpforthenewstudents.Keepingupwithstudiesinyourfirstyearishardenough.Youshouldnothavetoworryaboutfindingyourwayaroundandfiguringouttheuniversitybureaucracy.
Livinginthedormitoryalsomakeastudentfeelmoreapartoftheuniersitycommunity.Therearemoreopportunitiesforbecoimginvolvedinuniversityactivitiesandnetworkingwithstudentsanduniversityadministraction.
Livingoff-campus,however,isadefiniteadvantageforolderstudents.Fingdinganapartment,dealingwithleasesandthelandlord’sregulations,cookingmeals,andfiguringoutbudgetsareallgoodpracticeforlifeaftergraducation.Thiskindofindependencehelpsolderstudentsgrowinadulthood.
Off-campushousingalsogivesstudentsabetterperspectiveonwhatisgoingonaroundthem.Campuscanbelikelittleworldsoftheirown.Therearefewchildrenorolderpeopleandeveryoneisfocusedoneducation.Gettingtoknowneighborswhoarenotstudentsisgoodforstudentscomingfromdifferenceplaces.Itisachancetofindoutwhatotherpeoplethinkandfeel.
Ithinkacombinationoftwoyearson-campusandtwoyearsoff-campusisawinningcombinationformoststudents.
5.Providingphysicalexercisesshouldnotbetheschoolsresponsibility?
Whilephysicalexerciseisimportant,Idonotbelievethatitistheschool’sresponsibilitytoprovidephysicaltrainingforitsstudents.Thatissomethingthateveryonecantakecareofonhisorherown.
Manystudentsgetplentyofphysicalexerciseaspartoftheirdailylifeorrecreation.Astudentwhobicyclestenmilestoandfromschooldoesnotneedmoreexercise.Agoodphysicaleducationprogrammusttakeastudent’soutsideactivityintoconsideration.Otherwise,somestudentswillspendvaluableclasshoursrepeatingphysicalexercise.
Ifaschoolofferssuchactivities,italsosuggeststhatstudentswillbegradedonthem.Therangeofpossiblephysicalactivitiesisgreat:
football,swimming,weightlifting,ballet,ballroomdance,yoga,skiiing,horsebackriding,andgolfarejustafew.However,thenumberofactivitiesthataschoolcouldofferissmall.Somestudentscouldgetbadgradesinphysicaleducationsimplybecausetheschoolcouldnotprovideanactivitytheyenjoyordowell.Thisseemsunfair.Researchsuggeststhatparticipation,notexcellence,intheseactivitiesdeterminesthepsysicalbenefitsthebodywillget.
Anotherissueiseconomic.Manyschoolsdonothavethemoneytoprovidegryfacilities,playingfields,andathleticequipmentfortheirstudent.Otherschoolsarelocatedincitieswherethekindofspacejustisnotavailable.Afewshoolswouldratherkeepmoneyforacademicpurposes.
Schoolscancertainlyencouragephysicalactivity.Theycanprovidespaceforactivities,events,andclassesforpsysicalactivities.Theycanencouragestudentstoplantimeawayfromacademicstudiestogetsomeexercise.However,Ithinkthatprovidingexerciseshouldnotbetheschoolsresponsibility.
6.Themostimportantcharacteristic
Althoughhonesty,intelligence,andasenseofhumorareallworthwhilecharacteristics,Ifeelthemostimportantoneinlifetohaveissensitivity.Asensitivepersonisawareifhim/herselfandthewaytheiractionsaffectothers.Asensitivepersonknowstheplaceofhonesty,intelligence,andasenseofhumor.
Honestyisnotalwaysthebestpolicy.Thereissuchathingasawhitelie.Youdonotwanttoinsultsomeonebysayingthattheirnewdressdoesnotfitproperlyorthatyouwouldnotliveintheirnewhouseeveniftheypaidyou.Youmustbesensitivetowhenitisnecessarytotellthetruthandwhenitisbettertotellawhitelie.
Intelligenceisawonderfulthingtohave,butnotallintelligentpeopleusetheirintelligencesensitively.Youdon’twanttothereaction
