Selectionofthestatorfluxcommandindirecttorquecontrol(DTC)ofpermanentmagnetsynchronousmotorsisveryimportantasitaffectsmachineperformance.Forsteadystateoperation,itcanhelptodecreasethestatorcurrentormachinelosses.However,inordertogetafasttorqueresponseduringmotorstartup,oneneedstochangeboththestatorfluxangleandmagnitude.Inthispaper,amethodispresentedtofindtheoptimalvoltagevectorstochangeboththefluxangleanditsmagnitudethatresultsinhighspeeddynamicsforthetorqueresponse.Theclosedformformulagivenfortheoptimalvoltagevectorisderivedbasedonmaximizingthetorquechangeineachsamplingtime.ThesimulationresultsshowthatthepresentedmethodissuperiortotheconventionalDTC.Inotherwords,itisshownthatthevoltagevectorsderivedfromtheswitchingtableforconventionalDTCarenottheoptimalvoltagevectorsforthesituationinwhichthereisastepchangeinthetorquecommand.

Thispaperintroducesahybridcontroller(HC)whichconsistsofaparallelconnectedslidingmodecontroller(SMC)andaneuro-fuzzycontroller(NFC)forthespeedcontrolofapermanentmagnetsynchronousmotor(PMSM)drive.TheaimofthisstudyistoobtainacontrollerthateliminatesthechatteringphenomenonandprovidesafastandsmoothdynamicresponseforthespeedcontrolofaPMSMdrive.Therefore,usinganerrorbandmethod,thesystemiscontrolledbytheSMCtogetafastdynamicresponseintransientmodeandisalsocontrolledbytheNFCtogetasmoothdynamicresponseinsteadystatemode.Toillustratetheperformanceoftheproposedcontroller,thesimulationandexperimentalstudiesarepresentedseparatelyfortheSMC,NFCandHC.Theresultsarecomparedwitheachotheranddiscussedindetail.

MathematicsandComputersinSimulation
Anonlinearpredictivecontroller(NPC)forapermanentmagnetsynchronousmotor(PMSM)isproposedinthispaper.Itsobjectiveishighperformancetrackingoftherotorspeedtrajectorywhilemaintainingthed-axiscomponentofthearmaturecurrentatzero.Theloadtorqueandthemismatchedparametersareconsideredtobeunknownperturbations.Toensurerobustnessagainsttheseperturbations,adisturbanceobserverisdesignedusinganewgainfunction,andintegratedintothecontrollaw.Thecombinationofthenonlinearpredictivecontrollerandthedisturbanceobserverworksasanonlinearcontroller.Theoverallclosed-loopsystemisprovedtobegloballyasymptoticallystabledependingonthedesignparameters.Thevalidityoftheproposedcontrollerwastestedbysimulations.Satisfactoryresultswereobtainedwithrespecttothetrackingofthespeedtrajectoryanddisturbancerejection.

Thepaperpresentstorqueripplereductioninpermanentmagnetsynchronousmotorwithexterior-rotor.Theinfluenceofthemagnetpolearcwidthandtheinfluenceofthesupplycurrentwaveformonthetorquerippleareconsideredintheanalysis.Theresultsoftheanalysisareobtainedbythefiniteelementmethodsimulationandareverifiedexperimentallyaswell.Thereductionoftotaltorquerippleatnominalloadconditionslessthan2%isachievedbypropermotormagnetpolearcdesignandbyapplyingtheoptimalstatorcurrentwaveformcontrol.

Thetorquecharacteristicsofinterior-permanent-magnetsynchronousmotor(IPMSM),inwhichcorematerialswereourconventionalnon-orientedelectricalsteel35SX250andourdevelopedsteels35SXH,27SXHwithhighpermeability,weremeasuredbyapulsewavemodulation(PWM)invertercontrol.Thetorquecharacteristicsofthemotorwithdevelopedsteelsweresuperiortothatofconventionalsteel.Theadvantageofdevelopedsteelswasremarkableinthehigh-toqueregion.Experimentaltorqueseparationusingcurrentphasecontrolshowedthatreluctancetorquewasstronglyaffectedbythemagneticpropertiesofcorematerials.Andwedidmagneticfieldanalysisofthemotorsbyfiniteelementmethod(FEM).Thefluxdensityintheteethofthestatorcorewashigherinthehighpermeabilitysteelsthanthatintheconventionalsteelunderthesamecurrentcondition.ThedevelopedsteelsareexpectedtobesuitedtothestatormaterialofIPMSMusedasdrivemotorsforelectricvehiclesandcompressormotorsforairconditioner.

Thispaperpresentsaspeedestimationtechniqueforthepermanentmagnetsynchronousmotordrive.AModelReferenceAdaptiveSystem(MRAS)hasbeenformedusingtheinstantaneousandsteady-statereactivepowerstoestimatethespeed.IthasbeenshownthatsuchuniqueMRASoffersseveraldesirablefeatures.Theproposedtechniqueiscompletelyindependentofstatorresistanceandislessparametersensitive,astheestimation-algorithmisonlydependentonq-axisstatorinductance.Also,themethodrequireslesscomputationaleffortasthesimplifiedexpressionsareusedintheMRAS.ThestabilityoftheproposedsystemisachievedthroughPopov’sHyperstabilitycriteria.Extensivesimulationresultsarepresentedtovalidatetheproposedtechnique.Thesystemistestedatdifferentspeedsincludingzerospeedandaverysatisfactoryperformancehasbeenachieved.

Inthispaper,wehaveusedmagnetarcshapingtechniqueinordertoimprovetheperformanceofpermanent-magnetlinearsynchronousmotor(PMLSM).Atfirst,adetailedanalyticalmodelingbasedonMaxwellequationsispresentedfortheanalysisanddesignofPMLSMwiththearc-shapedmagneticpoles(ASMPs).Thentheaccuracyofpresentedmethodisverifiedbyfinite-elementmethod.Verycloseagreementbetweentheanalyticalandfinite-elementresultsshowstheeffectivenessoftheproposedmethod.Finally,amagnetshapedesigniscarriedoutbasedontheanalyticalmethodtoenhancethemotordevelopedthrust.Pertinentevaluationsontheoptimaldesignperformancedemonstratethatshapeoptimizationleadstoadesignwithextralowthrustripple.
