shanemcconkeyismyhero.ilovedhimbecausehewastheworld’sbestskier.butthen,onedayirealizedwhatireallylovedaboutshane,hewasahacker.notacomputerhacker,hehackedskiing.hiscreativityandinventionsmadeskiingwhatitistoday,andwhyilovetoski.alotofpeoplethinkofhackersasgeekycomputernerdswholiveintheirparent’sbasementandspreadcomputerviruses,butidon’tseeitthatway.
hackersareinnovators,hackersarepeoplewhochallengeandchangethesystemstomakethemworkdifferently,tomakethemworkbetter,it’sjusthowtheythink,it’samindset.
i’mgrowingupinaworldthatneedsmorepeoplewiththehackermindset,andnotjustfortechnology,everythingisupforbeinghacked,evenskiing,eveneducation.sowhetherit’sstevejobs,markzuckerbergorshanemcconkeyhavingthehackermindsetcanchangetheworld.
healthy,happy,creativityinthehackermindsetareallalargepartofmyeducation.icallithackschooling,idon’tuseanyoneparticularcurriculum,andi’mnotdedicatedtoanyoneparticularapproach,ihackmyeducation.
itakeadvantageofopportunitiesinmycommunity,andthroughanetworkofmyfriendsandfamily.itakeadvantageofopportunitiestoexperiencewhati’mlearning,andi’mnotafraidtolookforshortcutsorhackstogetabetterfasterresult.it’slikearemixoramash-upoflearning.it’sflexible,opportunistic,anditneverlosessightofmakinghappy,healthyandcreativityapriority.
andhereisthecoolpart,becauseit’samindset,notasystem.hackschoolingcanbeusedanyone,eventraditionalschools.soowhatdoesmyschoollooklike?
