Sequoyah’sworkwasdifficultandtookhimalotoftime.Worse,thosearoundSequoyahdidn’tunderstandwhathewasdoingwithallthosestrangesymbols.Someraiseddoubtsabouthiswork.However,Sequoyahdidn’tstopworking.In1821,Sequoyahpletedhisalphabet(字母表).EachsymbolinthealphabetsymbolizedoneoftheeightyfivesoundsintheCherokeelanguage.Bysayingthenameofeachsymbol,apersoncouldreadthespokenword.
