agriculturalproductivity,nutrientcyclingandothersoilprocesses,themaintenanceofsoilstructureandfertility,theimpactofhumanactivitiesandxenobioticsonsoilecosystemsandbio（techno）logicalcontrolofsoil-inhabitingpests,diseasesandweeds.Suchissuesarethebasisofsustainableagriculturalandforestrysystemsandthelong-termconservationofsoilsinboththetemperateandtropicalregions.

TheIntroductionshouldstartbroadlyfollowedbyanabbreviatedreviewofthekeyliteraturerelatedtoyourresearch.Thisisfollowedbyashortpresentationoftherationaleandtheinformationgapsthattheresearchisfilling.Additionaljustificationcanbethattheresearchfurtherdevelopsorchallengesthefindingsofothers.Thisleadstoclearlystatedobjective（s）fordoingtheresearch.Summariesofexperiments,methodsorresultsshouldnotbeincludedintheIntroductionandpleaseavoidadetailedliteraturesurvey.
