Therabbits’westwardspeedfromtheborderputanendtoanyideathatWA’sbadenvironmentwouldblocktheinvasion.Theystuckclosetowhat’snowtheEyreHighway,thenmovedsouthwardtofollowthebettervegetatedcoastline.Aboutthesametimefurthernorth,rabbitswerepouringintoWAfromtheNorthernTerritory.
Rabbitsreachedthewestcoastin1907,theyearthethirdfencewascompleted.Thefollowingyear,whenaWARabbitDepartmentofficialvisitedtheKalbarriendofthefence,hefoundrabbitsupanddownthecoastonbothsidesofit.
