　　9月6日，俄罗斯馆萨哈共和国展览正式拉开了帷幕，馆内展示的不乏稀世珍宝——猛犸象骨雕刻品、奇特形状的金条，还有精美切割的雅库特钻石。

　　猛犸象，曾经是远古时代地球上最大的象，英语中它的名字是mammoth。

因为是庞大动物的名字，所以mammoth这个词也就有了比喻义，表示“非常庞大”的意思：

　　9月26日是世博安哥拉馆日，提及安哥拉，大家不一定都了解这个国家，不过都知道有名的安哥拉长毛兔吧——注意注意哦，这么有名的兔子其实和安哥拉这个国家完全没有半点关系，名字上的一致只是因为中文音译的关系：

安哥拉这个国家名是angola，而安哥拉长毛兔的名字是angora，原产自土耳其。

　　可爱的angorarabbit分好几个breed，种类，比较著名的有english，英系安哥拉；french，法系安哥拉；german，德系安哥拉；satinangora，缎毛安哥拉与giantangora，巨型安哥拉。

　　安哥拉兔兔是一种domesticrabbit，家兔，价值就在于又长又软的兔毛，18世纪中期，安哥拉兔兔也是法国皇室贵族很喜欢的一种宠物。

兔兔那一身的毛是怎么剪下来的呢？

通常情况下有这几种剪毛的方法：

shearing,用大剪刀剪，就像剪羊毛那样；xxbing,梳理；plucking，摘、拔

　　其实毛长了也会造成困扰：

　　世博会非洲联合馆里出售的原生态工艺品很受欢迎，其中有种鸵鸟蛋壳项链、来自有野生动物天堂美誉的博茨瓦纳。

鸵鸟的英语说法大家也许都知道，可是你知道这个单词背后的比喻义么？

　　鸵鸟，ostrich，据说风沙来袭的时候喜欢把头插进沙子里，以为什么都看不到就可以避开危险，这种行为在我们自己身上也经常看到哦，所以这种自欺欺人的人，被称为ostrich：

　　别再自欺欺人啦，你要面对事实！

　　有个成语，掩耳盗铃，说的也是同样的意思，所以掩耳盗铃这种行为就被称为ostrichbelief，或者ostrichpolicy。
