3)protect指采取保护措施,使人或物免受伤害,常用于防御风雨、疾病或保护权益等,常与against,
from连用。
4)prevent表示“阻止、防止”,不让事情发生。

语法知识
(一)词类转换
词类转换是指无须借助词缀就实现词类的转换。
如我们在《必修2》第一单元所学的WhenZhouKai's
mothersawhimheadingtowardsthefrontdoorwithoutajacketon,sheeyedhimanxiously.此
句中的head禾口eye均由名词转换为动词:
head意为"toproceedorgoinacertaindirection”,eye意为"lookat”。
(二)名词的后缀
通过在词根上加前缀或后缀构成另一个词叫词的派生。
本册主要出现了名词后缀构成形容词的用法。
后缀
是派生的一种形式,能使词类转变。
最常见的后缀为-ful,-less,-ible,-ive,-ish,-ic,-ary,-ous,
-er,-or,-tion,-ism,-ship,-ness,-ing,-ment,-hood,-ance,-ess,-ee,-eer
能力提高用所给单词的适当形式填空。
