When I was in 7"h grade, my family traveled to Florida for winter vacation by car. All wasgoing well while we were driving back, until we stopped at a gas station in Kentucky at4:
00a.m., just hours away from home. As my sister and I hopped out of the car, my diary fell outonto the cold, dark sidewalk. And my deepest darkest 7" grade secrets lay there for the wholeworld to read.
...But I didn't even notice.
Instead I hopped back into the car, and we drove away. When I got home, I was very angryat my stupidity. For weeks, I could only imagine the possible results of my forgetfulness:
strangers were talking about a silly girl's secrets...
Until one day, something amazing happened. I went to school and my name was called onthe school radio—I had gotten a package(包裹)from New York. I opened the yellow paper, andinside was my diary!
Although the cover was dirty, it was there, and had been sent from thetown in Kentucky to New York where it was then shipped to me.
Along with the diary was a note from a man.He said after picking up my diary, he foundmy report card in the back, and shipped it to the address of my school. He also told me that hedid not invade(侵犯)my privacy, which made the stone fall away from my heart.
To this day, I am moved by his unbelievable thoughtfulness and kindness—seeing my diary,
taking time out of his day and money out of his pocket to send it to me.I realized how important
it is to be considerate of others.
