情态动词用法比较表
情态动词是一种本身有一定的词义,给谓语动词增添情态色彩,表示说话人对有关行为或事物的态度和看法,认为其可能、应该或必要等。
情态动词后面加动词原形。
分类
情态动词有四类:
①只做情态动词:
must,can(could),may(might)……
②可做情态动词又可做实义动词:
need,dare,will
③具有情态动词特征:
have(had,has)to,usedto,oughtto,hadbetter
④情态动词表猜测:
一肯一否三不定(must一肯,mustnot一否,can,could,would三不定。
)
注:
mustn't代表强烈禁止must表示主观,haveto表示客观

may(might)
能否、可否
1)表示请求和允许。
might比may语气更委婉,而不是过去式。
否定回答时可用can’t或mustn’t,表示“不可以,禁止”。
用MayI...征徇对方许可时比较正式和客气,而用CanI...在口语中更常见。
2)用于祈使句,表示祝愿。
3)表示推测、可能性(不用于疑问句)。
might不是过去式,它所表示的可能性比may小。

Will(would)
决心,希望、愿望、愿意
用于疑问句表示说话人向对方提出请求或询问,would为will的过去式,用would比will更婉转,客气。
1)(表示单纯的将来)将
Hewillbehomeatsix.他六点回家。
(将来时)
2)(表示意志、意愿)愿,要
Youwillcome,won'tyou你会来的,是不是
3)(表示经常性、习惯性)经常,惯于,总是
Thesethingswillhappen.这种事总是要发生的。
4)(表示猜测)可能,大概
Thiswillbethehouseyou'relookingfor.这大概就是你找的那所房子了。
5)(表示责任、义务)必须,一定
Noonewillleavetheexaminationroombeforeteno'clock.十点以前谁也不能离开考场。

can(could)
可以、能、同意
表示说话人能,可以,同意,准许,以及客观条件许可,could为can的过去式。
IcanreadthissentenceinEnglish.我能用英语读这句话。
Wecanbethereontimetomorrow.我们明天能按时去那儿。
表推测:
Hemust/can/may,mightknowtheanswertothisquestion.他一定/可能/也许知道这个问题的答案。

Shall(should)
应当、允许
1)shall用于第一人称,征求对方的意见。
2)shall用于第二、三人称,表示说话人给对方的命令、警告、允诺或威胁、劝告,建议惊奇。
should,oughtto表示“应该”,oughtto表示义务或责任,比should语气重。

Shallwebeginnow我们现在就开始吗
Youshallfailifyoudon’tworkhard.(警告)

(多用于疑问句和否定句)需要,必须
在肯定句中一般用must,haveto,oughtto,should代替。
needn't+have+过去分词表示过去做了没必要做的事情(真不应......)
1)情态动词:

Youneedn’tcomesoearly.

2)实意动词:
需要,有...必要

oughtto
应当,应该
1)should,oughtto表示“应该”,oughtto表示义务或责任,比should语气重。
2)表示劝告、建议和命令。
should,oughtto可通用,但在疑问句中常用should。
3)表示推测
should,oughtto(客观推测),must(主观推测)。
oughttohavedone句型。
指过去动作,表示一件事情该做而未做。
oughtnottohavedone句型。
表示一件不该做的事情却做了。
Tomshouldnot/oughtnottohavetoldmeyoursecret,buthemeantnoharm.(虚拟)汤姆本不该告诉我你的秘密,可是他并无恶意。

必须,应该,一定,准是,偏要
否定式mustn’t意为“一定不要”“不允许”
表示说话人认为有必要做某事,命令,要求别人做某事以及对事物的推测。
1)表示“必须”
此时可用于肯定句、否定句或疑问句,用于否定句时,mustn’t的意思是“一定不要”“不能”,而不表示“不必”。
2)表示推测
意为“准是”“一定是”,通常只用于肯定句。
若用于否定句或疑问句,则用can代之
3)表示“偏偏”
对于must开头的一般疑问句,若作否定回答,可以用needn’t,不用mustn’t。
如:
“MustIcleanalltherooms”“No,youneedn’t.”
1)(表示必要、命令或强制)必须,得
Youmustn'ttalklikethat.你可不能这样说话。
Wemustbehomebysix.我们必须在六点以前回家。
Youmustobeytheschoolrules.你必须遵守校规。
2)(表示肯定的推测)一定是,谅必,八成

3)表示“偏偏”
有时must可表示某事发生得不早不迟,就在某个当紧的时候,多指某些不受欢迎的事情的发生。
如:
Thecarmustbreakdownjustwewerestartingourholidays.我们刚刚开始休假,汽车偏偏坏了。
JustwhenIwasbusy,theneighbormustcomeandchatter.正当我忙碌的时候,邻居偏偏过来聊天。

haveto的否定式don’thaveto意为“不必”(=needn’t)
表示客观条件只能如此,而must则表示主观思想必须。
haveto有时态三单数。

否定句用 doesn’t/don’t/didn’t+haveto+动词原形
must,haveto的区别
1)表示必须、必要。
2)must是说话人的主观看法,而haveto则强调客观需要。
Must只有一般现在时(在从句中可有过去时),haveto有更多的时态形式。
3)表示推测、可能性(只用于肯定的陈述句)
IknowImuststudyhard.我知道我必须努力学习。
Mybrotherwasveryill,soIhadtocallthedoctorinthemid-night.我弟弟病得厉害,我只得半夜里把医生请来。
Ihaven’tgotanymoneywithme,soI’llhavetoborrowsomefrommyfriend.我身上没带钱,只好向朋友借点了。
与must的区分:
Youmustcomeintime.
在回答引出的问句时,如果是否定的,不能用mustn’t(禁止,不准),而用needn’t,don’thaveto(不必).

过去常常
usedn’tto过去不常
usedtodo表示过去常常做某事,而现在往往不做了
usedto与would的用法比较
(1)两者都表示过去的习惯,当表示过去习惯性的动作时,可互换。
如:
Whenwewerechildrenwewould[usedto]goskatingeverywinter.我们小时候,每年冬天都去溜冰。
(2)若表示过去持续的状态,通常只用usedto,不用would。
如:
Heusedtolikeyou.他原来还是喜欢你的。
(3)若要强调过去与现在的对比,也通常只用usedto。
如:
Idon’tsmokethesedays,butIusedto.我现在不抽烟,但我以前是抽的。
IusedtodrivetoworkbutnowIcycle.过去我常驾车上班,但我现在骑自行车。

敢;竟敢
dare作情态动词用时,常用于疑问句、否定句和条件从句中,*过去式形式为dared。
除用作情态动词外,更多的是当实义动词使用,用法同实义动词一样,要考虑人称,单复数,时态等。
