Thefestivalisanessentialpartofculturalcustoms,whichisalsoanimportantparttoreflectthetraditionalethnicculture.Ontheotherhand,thefestival,asamirrorofculture,isstronglyinfluencedbyculture.Cultureisakindofsocialbehavior.Itiscorrelatedwithpeople'sdailylife,andcustomsandhabits.Eachnation'sspecialculturegiveslovesomespecialculturalmeaning.Differentcountrieshavedifferentfolkfestivalsowingtodifferentnaturalconditionsandhumanefactors.Formostwesterncountries,traditionalfestivalsoriginatefromreligion,whileourtraditionalfestivalscomefromafarmingcivilization.Thedifferentoriginsleadtodifferentcelebrations.Overthemanyyearsinpast,differentregionshavecelebratedtheirownfestivals.Inmoderntimes,withdevelopmentofglobalization,manyethnicfestivalsarecelebratedbyallovertheworld.Forexample,theWesternValentine'sDayiswidelycelebratedbyouryoungpeople.AndChina'sDoubleSeventhFestivaliscalled"OrientalValentine'sDay".Butweshouldknowwhatthedifferencesarebetweenthetwofestivals.Whatcanwelearnfromthetwofestivals?

TheDoubleSeventhFestival“Long,longago,therewasanhonestandkind-heartedfellownamedNiuLang（Cowhand）.Hisparentsdiedwhenhewasachild.Laterhewasdrivenoutofhishomebyhissister-in-law.Sohelivedbyhimself.Oneday,afairyfromHeavenZhiNu（Weavermaid）fellinlovewithhimandcamedownsecretlytoearthandmarriedhim.ThecowhandfarmedinthefieldandtheWeaverMaidwoveathome.Theylivedahappylifeandgavebirthtoaboyandagirl.Unfortunately,theGodofHeavensoonfoundoutthefactandorderedtheQueenMotheroftheWesternHeavenstobringtheWeaverMaidback.Withthehelpofthecelestialcattle,theCowhandflewtoheavenwithhissonanddaughter.Atthetimewhenhewasabouttocatchupwithhiswife,theQueenMothertookoffoneofhergoldhairpinsandmadeastroke.OnebillowyriverappearedinfrontoftheCowhand.TheCowhandandWeaverMaidwereseparatedonthetwobanksforeverandcouldonlyfeeltheirtears.Theirloyaltytolovetouchedmagpies,sotensofthousandsofmagpiescametobuildabridgefortheCowhandandWeaverMaidtomeeteachother.TheQueenMotherwaseventuallymovedandallowedthemtomeeteachyearonthe7thdayofthe7thlunarmonth.Hencetheirmeetingdatehasbeencall"QiXi".

TheDoubleseventhFestivalisfromtheearliestpeopletotheworshipofnature.Fromthehistoricalpointofview,atleastthreethousandorfourthousandyearsago,withtheproductionoftextiletechnologyandpeople'sunderstandingofastronomy,therewasrecordsaboutAltairandVega.PeoplearemuchmorethantheworshipofthestarsAltairandVega,theythinkthingshavesevenrepresentativesofthenorthandsouthorientationofthestars,collectivelyknownaslunarmansions,thebrightestofwhichtheBigDipper,asenseofdirectionforthenight.ThefirststaroftheBigDippercalledtheBigDipper,alsoknownastheculprit.Lateron,theimperialexaminationsystem,championcalled"QuebecDisabilitiesBigWorld",scholarcalledtheDoubleseventhFestival"KuiXingFestival",alsoknownasthe"SunFestival",maintainedaTanabataisderivedfromtheearliesttracesofworshipofthestars.
