Thisresearchisconsistentwithpreviousstudiesthatshowthebenefitofmotherplayinotherareassuchasinachild’screativityandsocialdevelopmentusingotherdevicessuchasmusicandtoys.Musichelpschildrenconnecttheouterworldofmovementandsoundwiththeinnerworldoffeelingsandobservations.Childrenlearnmusicthesamewaytheylearnlanguage–bylisteningandimitating.Fingerplaypromoteslanguagedevelopment,motorskillsandcoordination,aswellasself-esteem.Youngchildrenareproudwhentheysingasongandcandotheaccompanyingfingermovements.Listeningtomusicalsoteachesimportantpre-readingskills.Asyoungstersusesmalldrumsorotherpercussioninstruments(homemadeorstore-bought),theycanplaytherhythmicpatternofwords.
