Concept

Landscapeisrepresentedintraditionalgardenartthroughallegoriesorasrealisticminiatures.Weareinvertingtheprocessofminiaturisationbyisolatingastonefromitsoriginalenvironmentandexpandingitsscaletothepointthatitbecomesitselfalandscape.Similarlytosomeexperiencesinpopartanelementaryobjectisblowntosurrealdimensions.Inourcaseitisnotafamiliarandmassproducedobject,insteaditisanarbitrarilychosenbutuniqueelementofaspecificlandscape,abeachontheMediterranean.Thisprocessbeginswiththestonebeingsingledoutfromthemanystonesformingthatparticularlandscape.Itsde-contextualisationandplacementonaurbanlawn,isanecessaryintermediatesteptodefineitsidentity.Thefollowingmanipulationtransformsitintoaspacethatwillbeexperiencedbyvisitors.¡®Informed¡¯throughimagesthatdepictthestoneinitsoriginalandtransitoryenvironmentthevisitorsclosetheconceptualcirclebylivingactivelyandemotionallythesite.

Physicaldescriptionofthegarden

Thegardenconsistsofa¡®forest¡¯ofshrubssurroundingacentralstructure（thestone）.Thestoneisaconcretesurfaceonearthdunesshapedthroughearthmovements.CylindricalPVCtubeshavebeenplacedintheearthdunesbeforetheconcretewaspouredinordertoachievetheholesinthesurface.Thesecontainsucculentplants.
