ProfessorRaismanachievedthiswithratsinthelate1990’s,butthisishisgreatestsuccess.“IthinkthemomentofdiscoveryformewasChristmasin1997whenIfirstsawarat,whichcouldn’tcontrolitshand,putitshandouttome.Thatwasanexcitingmoment,becauseIrealizedthenthatmybeliefthatthenervoussystemcouldberepairedwastrue.”
Doctorschosetheeasiestcasefortheirfirstattempt—itmightnotworkforothers.Butthereisarealsenseofhopethatanideaoncethoughtimpossiblehasbeenrealized.
