Furtherresearchesshowedthatinmenthehormoneoxytocinimprovestheabilitytorecognizecompetitiverelationships,butinwomenitraisestheabilitytorecognizefriendship.
ProfessorRyan'srecentexperimentused62menandwomenaged20to37.Halfoftheparticipants(参与者)receivedoxytocin.Theotherhalfreceivedplacebo(安慰剂).
Afteraweek,thetwogroupsswitchedwithparticipants.Theywentthroughthesameprocedurewiththeothermaterial.
Followingeachtreatment,theywereshownsomevideopictureswithdifferentsocialinteractions.Thentheywereaskedtoanalyzetherelationshipsbyansweringsomequestions.Thequestionswereabouttellingfriendshipfromcompetition.Andtheiranswersshouldbebasedongestures,bodylanguageandfacialexpressions.
