PumpRegulation
ConstantControlofHorsepower
Constantcontrolofthehorsepowerisassociatedwiththe1to9settingoftheenginespeeddial.Theflowofthepumpiscontrolledbythepowershiftpressurewhentheenginespeeddialisinthe9through1position.Thehydraulicoutputwillbesetaccordingtothepositionoftheenginespeeddial.Controlofthepumpwillbeadjustedfromoneofthefollowingsetpoints:
lowpressureandmiddlepressurehighpressure.Eventhoughthepumpisdeliveringthemaximumflow,thecontrollerwillcorrectthepowershiftpressureinordertomaintainthemaximumamountofflow,whenthedeliverypressureofthepumpistoolowandthepropersettingofhorsepowercannotbereached.Duringthedeliveryofmiddlepressureandhighpressure,thehorsepowerofthemainpumpiscontrolledinordertopreventhighhorsepowerofthepumpwithlowerenginehorsepower.Thecontrollerreceivesfeedbackfromtheproportionalreducingvalveforthepowershiftpressure.Thepowershiftpressureisproportionaltothetargetflow.Thetargetflowiscalculatedfromthesettingoftheenginespeedandthepressureofthedeliverypumppressuresensor.Thus,thepowershiftpressurewillvaryaccordingtothepositionoftheenginespeeddialandthepressureofthedeliverypump.Theantistallfeaturefortheengineisusedinordertopreventtheenginefromstalling.Theantistallfeaturewillbeactivated,ifthespeedoftheenginesignificantlydecreasesincomparisontothesettingoftheenginespeeddial.
ControlOfAnUnderspeedCondition
Theunderspeedconditionisassociatedwithapositionof10oftheenginespeeddial.The10positionoftheenginespeeddialisusedwhenalargeamountofhorsepowerisrequiredorahightravelspeedisrequested.Inthiscase,itisnecessarytoutilizetheunderspeedfeaturewhentheengineisbeingoperatedatamaximumhorsepower.Theunderspeedfeaturewillmaintainthespeedoftheengineatapproximatelymaximumpower.Thecontrollerreceivesfeedbackandthecontrollerwilladjusttheenginespeedinordertoregulatethepowershiftpressure.Thecontrollercontrolsthepowershiftpressureintheunderspeedcondition.Theenginemaintainsaspeedofapproximately1800rpminordertoachievethemaximumhorsepower.Therefore,whentheenginespeedishigherthanthetargetspeedofapproximately1780rpm,theoutputofthepumpwillincreaseandthepowershiftpressurewilldecrease.Also,whentheenginespeedislowerthanthetargetspeed,theoutputofthepumpwilldecreaseandthepowershiftpressurewillincrease.
Thehorsepoweroftheenginemaydecreaseunderthefollowingconditions:
