Whentheyfirstfoundthemarinemammalalone,thestafffromMarineAnimalRescueprogramthoughtthatitwasjustadolphinwhichfallbehindandtriedtodriveitoffintothePacificOcean.However,assoonasittriedtoswimaway,itwasgreetedbytwoviolentdolphinsthatbegantrashingviolentlyinthewater,forcingthe250-poundanimalcalled“BolsaChicaBob”tocomebackintothewetlands.
DennisKelly,chairmanoftheMarineScienceDepartmentofOrangeCoastCollege,disagrees.Thedolphinexpertwhohasbeenworkingwiththesewonderfulanimalsfor34years,believesthatwhiledolphinssometimesgetimpatientandsmack(拍打)eachotherwiththeirtails,theydonotbullyoneoftheirown.
