WhentheUnitedStatesenteredintoWorldWarII,Hollywoodmovieschangeditscoursetothemesrelatedtotheconflicts,andHollywoodcomedymoviesdescribedmoreonmilitarythemes.Thewartimeexperiencedaboom,whererestrictionsonthetravelingmadenearlyaquarterofthemoneyspentonattendingmovies.
Inthe1950s,theinterestshiftedwheretheTVbecamepopular.DuringthistimethereleaseofHollywoodcomedyfilmsdeclined(衰落).The1960ssawanincreasingnumberofbroad,star-packedcomedies.In1970Hollywoodcomedymoviesreflectedtheanti-warsentiment,whichwaspopularthen.
