Asayoungmanhebecameaboxingchampion.WhentheUnitedStatesenteredWorldWarOne,youngJimmyDoolittlejoinedthearmy.Healsoaskedtobetrainedasapilot.OnMarch18th,1918,Jimmypassedthetestsandgraduatedfromflightschool.HehadhopedtogotoFranceandfightinthewar.Thearmy,however,hadhimtrainotherpilots.Whenthewarended,Jimmychosetostayinthearmy.Hethoughtthiswouldgivehimachancetocombinehisflyingskillsandhisinterestinengineering.
