ThepurposeofthispaperistoperformaneconomicanalysisofWal-Mart.TheanalysisincludestheSWOTanalysis,Porter’sfiveforces,PESTanalysis,andfinancialanalysis;somemajorissuesthecompanyisfacing,andthenprovidedsomerecommendations.
Wal-MartStoresInc.isthelargestretailcompanyintheUnitedStatesandhasbeenrankednumberoneontheFortune500IndexbyFortuneMagazine.Although,Wal-MarthashugemarketshareinU.S.,itsinternationalmarketisnotoperatingverywell.Also,Wal-Martstillfaceslotsofproblems.TheseconcernsmustbeaddressedifWal-Martwantstoenjoycontinuedsuccessincreatingpositivenamerecognition.

Wal-MartisthelargestretailstoreintheUnitedStates,andislargerthananyotherretailchainintheworld.CurrentlyWal-Martoperatesover4,150retailfacilitiesglobally.Also,thecompanyisthedominantretailstoreinCanada,Mexico,andtheUnitedKingdom(Wal-Mart,2012).AccordingtotheFortune500indexofthewealthiestandmostpowerfulcorporationsintheworld,Wal-Martholdsthenumberonespot,rankedbyitstotalsales.ThecompanyisrankedasthesecondmostadmiredcompanyintheworldbyFortune().Wal-Marthas8,500storesin15countries,under55differentnames.ThecompanyoperatesunderitsownnameintheUnitedStates,includingthe50statesandPuertoRico.ItoperatesinMexicoasWalmex,intheUnitedKingdomasAsda,inJapanasSeiyu,andinIndiaasBestPrice.IthaswhollyownedoperationsinArgentina,Brazil,andCanada.Wal-Mart'sinvestmentsoutsideNorthAmericahavehadmixedresults:

Wal-Marthasbuilttheworld’slargestgroceryretailerandstoresaroundtheworld.Ithasbeensosuccessfulbecauseoftheirhugespanofcontrol.Although,Wal-Marthasgoodinformationtechnologyadvantage,itisstillweakincontrolinsomeareas.Wal-Martextendsbusinesstodifferentmarketareas,suchasclothesandfood.Itmaynothaveenoughflexibilityandcompetitivestrengthwhichothermorefocusedcompetitorshave.Wal-Martshouldbecomeaglobalization,butitisonlyinafewcountriesnow.CustomersforgiveWal-Mart’spoorqualitybecausetheythinkWal-Mart’spricesaresolow.Ittoohardkeepcommoditieshashighqualitywithlowprice.
