crankcaseduct,aswiththenaturallyaspiratedversions,fromthereoverahose
connectionwithcheckvalvetotheintakemanifold.
Fullloadventilation(turbochargedengine)
Duringfullloadventilation,thelineofthepartialloadventilationisclosedbythechargerpressurepresentonthecheckvalve.Theairseparatedfromoilinthecycloneseparator
isfedtothechargerairlineaftertheairfilter.
Freshair
Cycloneseparatorsareusedfortheseparationofblow-bygases.
Theblow-bygasesinthecycloneunitaresetintoarotatingmovementforthis.
Fullloadventilation
Theoilpartseparatesduetotheoccurringcentrifugalforcesanddripsbackintothecrankcase.

Thepressuremeasurementrangeis0.2to2.5bar.
Thispressuresensorismarkedwithabluesticker.
Intakeairtemperaturesensor(B17)—(Turbochargedengine)
Theintakeairtemperaturesensor(B17),locatedintheintakemanifold,capturestheintakeairtemperature,whichisused,togetherwiththeintakeairthrottle,bytheMESIMcontrolunitforthecalculationofthefedairvolume.

ThepressuresensorisintegratedintheMESIMenginecontrolunit(N3/10)andmeasurestheambientpressure.Thissignalisusedforheightadaptation.
Pressuresensor(B28/5)—(Turbochargedengine)__Downstreamofaircleaner
Thepressuresensor(B28/5)islocatedintheairlinebetweentheairfilterandturbochargerandcapturesthecurrentintakemanifoldpressurebeforetheturbocharger.
Thissignalisreadintheenginecontrolunitandisusedfortheprotectionoftheturbochargerwiththesignalofthepressuresensor(B28/6).

TheturbochargedengineintheAandB-Classhasashortintakemanifoldwithoutselectordrum(variableintakemanifold).Theintakemanifoldcontainsanintegratedvacuumtankforthelowpressure(vacuum)supply.
Acheckvalveisfittedinthevacuumsupplylinebetweentheintakemanifoldandthevacuumtank.
Thefittingdirectionmustbeobservedwhenfittingthevalve(markedbyanarrowonthevalve).
Themountsfortheintakeairtemperaturesensor,purgevalveandintakemanifoldpressuresensorarelocatedonthetopsideoftheintakemanifold.

Thewater-cooledexhaustturbochargerfromBorgWarnerismadeofcaststeelandisweldeddirectlywiththeair-gapinsulatedsheetmetalexhaustmanifold(LSI),whichwasdevelopedespeciallyforthechargerengine.
Theturbochargerhasapneumatic(chargerpressure)actuatedwastegatevalveforcontrolofthechargerpressureaswellasadecelerationairvalvetoavoidwhistlingnoisesindecelerationmode.

Foroilleakageatturbocharger(ATL):
CleanoilyspotsontheATLandlocatetheleakusingcontrastspray.Itisusuallyonlytheconnectionsoftheoil-conductinglinesthatareleaky.Inthiscase,replacesealingringsofthebanjoboltsandtightentotheprescribedtorque.
Exhaustturbochargerdesign
Theexhaustgasesarefedthroughtheairgapinsulatedexhaustmanifold(LSI)intheturbinehousingontotheturbinewheel.Theflowenergyoftheexhaustgasescausestheturbinewheeltorotate.Thiscausesthecompressorturbine(impeller)wheel,whichisconnectedbyashafttotheturbinewheel,tobedrivenwiththesamerpm.Thefreshairsuckedinbythecompressorturbine(impeller)wheeliscompressedandfedtotheengine.
Theshafthousingoftheexhaustturbochargeriscoolant-cooledandconnectedtotheenginelubrication.
Anoilreceptacle(reservoir)preventsoilremaininginthebearingpointsoftheturboonextremetiltingofthevehicle.
