ThenovelPrideandPrejudicebytheEnglishfemalewriterAustenisaclassicnovelofromanticism.Itreflectsthestatusofmiddleclasswomeninmarriageduringthetransitionalperiodbetweenthe18thandthe19thcentury.Forthem,marriagewasnotforlovebutfortheguaranteeofeconomicstatus.Austen’smarriageconceptinfluencedbyherbiographicalbackground,herclassandherexperiences.Shebelievesloveisthemostfundamentalandimportantconditionforahappymarriage,whichshouldbebasedonalargeamountofmoneyoraconsiderablefortune.Inaddition,inchoosingasuitablemate,classhierarchyorsociallineageshouldbetakenintoconsiderationexceptformoney.Itisperfectforonetoenterthestageofmarriageifonewillgetloveandsecuremoneyatthesametime.AlltheseideasareillustratedclearlyinhermasterpiecePrideandPrejudice,soitisanepitomeofherconceptsofmarriage.ThroughanalyzingthefactorswhichinfluenceJaneAustin’sviewofmarriageandhowitisembodiedinPrideandPrejudice,peoplecanhaveaclearunderstandingofJane’sviewofmarriage.Inaddition,italsotellspeoplewhatisthemostimportantandhowweshouldchooseinmarriage.

简的婚姻观受到很多因素的影响,诸如:

奥斯汀相信爱情是幸福婚姻中最基本最重要的条件。
而能与大量的财产做基础结合起来的婚姻就算得上是完美的婚姻了。
除此之外,选择好的伴侣,除了金钱之外,阶级地位也是要考虑的因素。
简强调包含真爱和金钱基础的婚姻是最完美的。
她的婚姻观被完整的诠释在了《傲慢与偏见》一书中,可以说《傲慢与偏见》就是简的婚姻观。
本文通过分析影响简.奥斯汀婚姻观的因素以及她的这种婚姻观是如何在《傲慢与偏见》中被表现出来的,从而把奥斯汀的婚姻观清晰的展现出来。

Loveandmarriageisanunfailingtopicsincehumanbeingshavethought.Allofpeopleareeagertogethappymarriage.Butnotallpeoplecanmaketheirdreamcometrue.Sometimes,ourdreamandhopejustlikeabubbledisappearinthewindandjustleavedisappointmentinourheart.Whatshouldwechoosebetweenloveandmoneywhenwecan’tchoosethesetwothingsatthesametime?
Andwhichstyleofmarriageisamoreperfectone?
JaneAustenasanovelwriterwholivedmorethantwohundredyearsagothoughtaboutthesequestions.Janewrotemanynovels.Hernovelsalwayspraisedasaclassicalworksaboutloveandmarriage,especiallythenovelofPrideandPrejudice.AndJanealsowonherhighestreputationthoughPrideandPrejudice.Theoriginalversionofthenovelwaswrittenin1796-1797underthetitle“FirstImpressions”,andwasintheformofanexchangeofletters.ItmainlydescribesthedevelopmentoftherelationshipbetweenElizabethBennet,anintelligentyoungwomanandthedaughterofacountrygentleman,andFitzwilliamDarcy,arichandhaughtyaristocraticlandowner.
SincePrideandPrejudicewaspublished,scholarshaven’tstoppedmakingcommentsforthisbigwork.ThisbookattractedmanycriticsnomattertheylivedinthesameperiodwithAustenorlivedafterthateras.Peopleanalysisthisstoryfromdifferentkindofangle.Themostfrequenttopicsdiscussedbycriticsweretopicsaboutmarriage.LiDongQinwroteapaperwhichwasaboutahappymarriagemustbebasedontruelove.However,marriageincludedmanythings,whichwereproperty,personalityandrating.ChenTang,aprofessor,whothoughtJaneAustenhadtolduswomenshouldinsistonindependentpersonalityanddignityintheirmarriages.AndZhenXiaoyuananalyzedJaneAusten’sviewofmarriagewasfromsightofculture.Shesaiddifferentcultureofbourgeoisiesandeliteclassesfightedandinosculatedinthatperiod.AustenallkindsofmarriagesinPrideandPrejudiceareresultofculturechanging.
MostofcriticsanalyzedmarriageinPrideandPrejudiceonly.Theyanalyzedthestylesofmarriage,theculturebackgroundofthemarriageandothersinthisbook.Inmyopinion,Austen’sviewofmarriageinfluencedbyherbiographicalbackground,herclass,herreligion,herloveandsoon.Theseelementswereveryimportantinhermarriageconcept.Janeeducedherconceptofmarriage,whichis“Itiswrongtomarryformoney,butitwassillytomarrywithoutit”(HelenLefroy,1997:
70).SheexpressedwellherviewofmarriageinPrideandPrejudicewhichconsideredasabannerthatadvocatedpeopleshouldgetmarriedforloveinsteadofonlyformoney.ThetitleofthenoveltoldusJaneAusten’srationalattitude.Toacertainextent,PrideandPrejudicewasthewriter’shope.TheactressElizabethwastheincarnationofAusten.ElizabethandDarcy’smarriagewasanidealmarriageinJane’sheartandalsoinmanypeople’s.Janedescribedsomeotherstylesmarriagetoshowfullyusherviewofmarriage.
PeoplelikePrideandPrejudiceisnotonlybecausetheplotwasverycharming,butalsobecausethisbooktransferredamessagewhichexistinpeople’sheartatalltime.That’sahopetogetahappymarriage.

JaneAustenwasbornonDecember16,1775,inStevensonrectoryinHampshire,England,whereshespentheryearsofchildhoodandyouth.WhenJanewassevenyearsold,shewenttoOxfordtobegivenlessonsbyMrs.Cawleywithhersister,andwhenshewasnineyearoldshewenttoAbbeySchooltolearnreading.AlthoughAustencamebackhomesoonfromschoolbecauseherfathercouldn’tpaytuitionfee,shestillcontinuedtolearnwiththeresourceofherfather’sextensivelibrary,andcertainlywithhisguidance.Austen’sfatherwasagentleman,fullofknowledge.HegaveagoodguidetoJane.AndAusten’smotherwasnotanignorantwoman;incontraryshehadagiftforwritingverse.ThereforeevenJanecouldn'tgeteducationfromschool;shealsowasasmartgirlwhoacceptedgoodeducation.Andshealsohasherownspecialmindaboutsomesocialproblems.Janeownsasharpandspecialsightfromthisgoodeducationandextensivereading.Austenowndifferentideasaboutmarriagewhilemostwomenthoughttheonlywaytofindahappylifeforwomanistofindarichmanandmarriedtohim.Austenthoughthappymarriageisnotbasedonmaterialsonly.Loveisthemostimportantelementinmarriage.AndthisconcepthavebeenimpressedinhernovelPrideandPrejudice

Everybody’smindswillbeinfluencedbyhisorherfamilies’andfriends’thoughts,andJanewasnotanexclusiveone.Austen’ssisterCassandrawasnotonlyJane’seldersisterbutalsoherbestfriendinherwholelife.Theclosefriendshipbetweenthesisterswasimprovedbymuchevidence.Austen’smothermadeacommentforthat.Shesaid“ifCassandra’sheadhadbeengoingtobecutoff,Janewouldhaveherscutofftoo”(HelenLefroy,1997:
89).AndJane’snieceAnnarememberedmanyyearslaterafterJanedied.HesaidJaneandhersister’ssisterlyaffectionforeachothercouldhardlybeexceeded….Thisattachmentwasneverinterruptedorweakened.Theylivedinthesamehome,andsharedthesamebedroom,tillseparatedbydeath.Thereisnosecretbetweenthesetwosisters,theytalkedeverythingaroundthem,exchangedtheirthinking.CassandrahaveafiancenamedTomFowlewhoisanonlytruelovetoCassandra.Butaftertheywereengaged,TometraveledtoWestIndiesasaprivatechaplainanddiedofyellowfeverinStDomingo.Cassandrafoldedtheweddinggarmentsawayandkeptlonelyfromthenon.Sister’sloyalforlovemovedJanedeeply,andletJanebelievemoredeeplyaffectionwasthemostimportantthingformarriage.Janethoughttrueloveshouldconcludedfullyloyaltocompanionashersister.
