Hepurchasedasecond-handHondamotorbikefor30,000SriLankanrupees($162).Onhisoffdays—mostlyduringweekends—herideshismotorbike,whichisfixedwithasteelboxtoholdbooks,toruralvillagesanddistributesthereadingmaterialtochildrenfreeofcharge.
Hebegantheprogramin2017with150books—someofhisownandothersdonatedbyfriends,colleaguesandwell-wishers.Hiscollectionincludesabout3,000booksonavarietyofsubjects.Sofar,hesaid,hisprogramhasbenefitedmorethan1,500children,aswellasabout150adults.
